Tufts Class of 2020 ED thread

Oh whoops yeah I checked again and it said by the 15th. My bad

Checking in from Fl, only 67 hours left

what are everyone’s stats?

3.9 UW GPA (rank 4/160)
33 ACT
2240 SAT (780/680/780)
Not anticipating an acceptance, but you never know.

ACT 33
SAT 2240 (700, 780, 760 - didn’t submit)
GPA 4.2 weighted
I worked so hard on my essay and supplements, so I hope that’ll put me in a good position.

Haha, I’m in the same boat as you guys. Same unweighted and weighted, same ACT score. Spent 3 weeks on my supplements alone so hopefully they were good enough. Also being from Utah miiiiigggghhhhttttt help me, I don’t know a single other person applying. At any rate, wishing us all the best!

definitely regretting not trying harder my freshmen/sophmore year. I am applying ED but my gpa and act are below the averages… super worried and not expecting to get in but praying for deferral. does applying for a history major help my chances since I heard not many kids are going for the major at tufts? or are my chances still the same

@jesr1121 so ironic my gpa and act are slightly below the averages and I’m also applying as a history major

@jesr1121 I’m pretty sure that major is irrelevant in admissions decisions (unless you’re applying for the engineering school) because it is so easy/common to change majors.

@commonappjunkie I haven’t met a Tufts student from Utah yet! I’m sure that will help a little. What made Tufts appealing to you despite it being so far from home?

@jesr1121 Tufts blog posts said that your major just gives them a clearer picture of who you are. They want to be able to see you as a Tufts student. I don’t think the competitiveness or lack thereof in the history major will help, but how it helps them get an idea of you in the community might. Obviously, though, none of us are the admissions counselors, so we can never be sure.

Wow, you guys all have amazing GPAs and SAT/ACT scores. Mine are slightly lower, but I am hoping that my extracurricular activities will make up for that. Good luck everyone!

@cpd1207 thats so funny! I live in florida and I’m hoping to go into prelaw. @katief8 @Qwerty568 thanks for
explaining!

Just about 48 hours until we get the decisions!

I’m so nervous to find out! CAN’T FOCUS ON ANYTHING MORE AND I HAVE BEEN SPENDING THE PAST DAY DEVOURING THE STATISTICS OF PAST TUFTS ED APPLICANTS. My sister goes to tufts and when I visited it, I fell in love with it. 2190 SAT, but very high disparity between math and writing/reading scores(I got perfect writing and near perfect reading… but not so great math) I’m hoping that speaks to who I am as a student and what my interests are. 4.4 weighted gpa and 3.7/3.8ish unweighted GPA, not entirely sure. I hope we all get in(optimistic but unrealistic, I know) Good luck everyone

It’s comforting to know others are as nervous as I am! 3.77 UW GPA from a private school that does not give W GPAs. All honors courses, however. 35 ACT. I’m in love with Tufts and am praying for an acceptance! Hope to see all of you next year.

Did anyone do interviews? How did they go?

Does anyone know what the ED acceptance rate is?

I didn’t interview because I get * really * nervous.

Last year it was around 38% I believe but my dad has a friend who is a Tufts faculty member who sent an email from the Dean of admissions who reported that the expected admission rate was going to be about 15%. I interpreted this as the ED acceptance rate, but that seems like a drastic drop. Maybe RD?

literally same reason I didn’t! I thought it would hinder my app more than bolster it.
