Tufts Class of 2020 RD Applicants

@schroscat Not quite that many, but I feel ya to an extent: 4 ivies + tufts

@schroscat your essays sound so interesting!
I’ve been following this thread for awhile now because I too am impatient for a response (*rejection). I wrote about how I live basically on a farm in the middle of nowhere and how frustrating yet beautiful it is away from the city. The “why tufts” essay was formatted as if I was writing a letter home to my parents telling them why I made the right choice and everything I love doing at Tufts etc etc. I also talked about how much of a biology nerd I am in one essay so it turned out to be a rambling piece that makes me cringe just thinking about it.

(New to this thread) Lol one of mine was about how I was a two sport athlete-debate and chess
The other was my experience in always being in predominantly white classrooms. Why tufts was pretty standard for me

Everyone’s essays sound so interesting! Makes me uneasy about mine…

How do you guys even remember your essay topics?!

My CA essay was about my battle with absurdism and the various philosophical stances I took against it throughout high school, as told through anecdotes. I feel it was the perfect balance between showing my intellectual prowess and my personal attributes/interests.

btw this is what absurdism is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absurdism

I had a lot of fun with the Tufts writing supplement. I wrote about the Experimental College, my ambiversion, and the premortem (“Why Tufts?”, “Let your life speak”, and “Pick any law” respectively).

I just planned a trip to Six Flags great adventure with a few friends on Thursday to keep my mind off the four rejections I’ll be getting later that day!

@c777123 Lol is this because of The Stranger?

Wow it seems like a lot of you guys applied to many ivies. I only applied to one haha

@BlackMagic81 sort of. i discovered camus and read general literature on his work early on in high school, but eventually dove deeper in an independent study junior year. but, if i had to attribute my interest in him to one of his works it would probably be The Myth of Sisyphus

@c777123 man I loved Camus better than most of the other books /essays we read when if I don’t fully agree with his philosophy

They just announced that decisions come out late afternoon Thursday!

“Update! Admissions decisions for Regular Decision candidates will be released on Thursday, March 31st in the late afternoon!”

oh and how did everyone’s interviews go (if requested)? I was surprised how early I had mine even though I applied RD

MY WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY ESSAY WAS ABOUT WAFFLES

My “why Tufts” essay was pretty generic I think. My identity essay was about growing up in a huge family and I chose the sports prompt, though I don’t play sports, and made it very funny- one of the best essays I’ve ever written, lol.

@thewaffleman149 “Admissions decisions for Regular Decision candidates will be released on Thursday, March 31st in the late afternoon!”

I think that is good news for candidates. By failing to release their decisions before the Ivies, admissions has forgone the opportunity to begin to establish a bond with admits before they receive their Ivy results. Even a small impact on yield can improve the chances for applicants on the waitlist.

My son sent in a dance supplement (ballet/tap/jazz I think)…

@marebear16 me too! i only applied to brown so i only have 2 more decisions left >_<

Wednesday or Friday?
