Tufts Class of 2025 Regular Decision

Mine fafsa has not changed

My daughterā€™s FAFSA changed, but I wouldnā€™t take it as a sign. Seems to happen with other schools sometimes and it doesnā€™t predict decision outcome.

CAn you guys please cahnce me. I freaking out.
Iā€™m an international student studying the A-Level curriculum.
ā†’ I have a 4.0/4.0 UW GPA
ā†’ I come #35 out of 950 (maybe 1200 students- not too sure due to recent expansion) students at my high school
ā†’ SAT got a 1360. (noot submitted)
ā†’ Predicted 3A* at A-Level (Mathematics, Econ, Business)
ā†’ Wasnā€™t allowed to partake in extracurriculars due to some reasons but tried my best to pursue those things which Iā€™m interested in. I know they are extremely unorthodox and probably have no weightage in the eyes of the admissions officers.

Started my own Charity (Unofficial- Doesnā€™t have a name and isnā€™t registered yet)
Became a self-taught forex and stocks trader and also teach trading- to help my father financially and to pay for the charity.
took care of my grandparents on a regular basis.
tutored my younger cousin
was the captain of 3 business competitions
Am an unofficial fitness trainer and nutritionist
Am a micro Instagram influencer- make my own content/earn some money too.
Miscellaneous activities/hobbies- participated in a couple of badminton tournaments at my club, frequently paint/draw, etc
ā†’ I also faced certain extenuating circumstances because of which I got mediocre O-Level results and because of which I was also not allowed to participate in ECAs.
ā†’ financial aid needed

Iā€™ve been rejected from all my US unis so Iā€™m not expecting anything good. Surprisingly even my safties rejected me.

Btw,how did you calulate your gpa?I have 4A* in A levels,and I didnā€™t submit gpa .

i didnt do it myself. I school does it somehow. To be honest i dont even know if its legit.

does everyone have the ā€œAwaiting Final Academic Report & Transcript (due June 25, 2021)ā€

Yes

It will not be there if you have already graduated from HS.

How do you see if fafsa date was changed?

On your portal to the right of the word FAFSA it should say a date, and some of them apparently have a more recent date than they did previously.

I donā€™t know how the process has been for you guys, but I have been waitlisted/rejected from all of my schools so far and I havenā€™t even heard back from my state schools. Its just starting to feel incredibly lonesome when I see everyone around me having options and already committingā€¦especially when I went in thinking Iā€™d have at least one option lol. I only have a couple of decisions left and Iā€™m really counting on Tufts so its really nerve wrecking. Anyways donā€™t know if anyone else can relate, but just felt like sharing, which is easier to do when no knows me on here hahaha.

You are not alone. There are a lot of students going the through the same thing. Insane waitlists this year. College doesnā€™t define you so no matter what happens this year, keep looking to do what makes you happy!

By all accounts it has been a brutal year. My daughter is in many ways a better applicant than my son (class of 2019) and she has had far fewer acceptances. She has a few choices, but she struck out at dream school 1. Tufts is dream school 2 and her last school she will hear from. She has good choices, but it hasnā€™t been exactly what we experienced 2 years ago or what she was hoping for.

That said, there are tons of highly successful people that went to what are perceived as very average schools. I went to a very middle of the road state university and have been a practicing radiologist for 20 years. Being rejected from these schools says more about them than it does about you.

I hear you! My daughter has been waitlisted places that she really thought she would get into. This year is incredibly hard on everyone. You will get in and go somewhere, even if it feels pretty crappy right now. She is feeling pretty doubtful about tufts. Itā€™s a hard admit in a normal year and this year is off the hook. I would def recommend send LOCI for your waitlist schools. There could still be some movement, who knows. Hang in there!

Can I ask what schools you applied to? I am in the same boat you are in or at least a very similar one. I began having interviews and speaking with schools in late 2019 - long before the pandemic - and many said I was an easy fit into their school. Now, however, I have been waitlisted to many of these schools or just flat our rejected. At the start of the admissions cycle, this came as a shock to me, but I then learned that many schools are unable to offer financial aid like they normally would (and that I need), but there are also many student that come from families of money or students that could get into higher ranked schools that are applying and getting in. It has been a frustrating cycle, but hopefully all will work out for you!

Tufts is my second to last hope for getting into a college other than my safeties so really wishing for a good outcome. Do you guys think participating in the tufts voices program boosts my chances? I was accepted (an AO said it was 15% acceptance I think) and it was a really fun opportunity, but since it was online Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s as important as other years

Iā€™m not sure how Tufts will look at it, but other schools have not been taking similar programs as heavily as they have in the past when offering admissions.

I have a long list but rejected from northeastern, northwestern, georgetown, uchicago, and waitlisted from boston college and hamilton college. Iā€™m still waiting to hear back from Barnard, nyu, Brown, UPenn, USC, and Tufts. And a few SUNYs. The only places I have been accepted to are CUNY and Fordham. Iā€™m in the same boat too because I need a lot financial aid as well, and almost all of my interviews for these colleges went really well, indicating that I would be a great fit. It has been very frustrating, I agree, but I am hoping the best for us. An incredibly overused phrase but it all will work out at the end. What other schools are you waiting for?

Thank you! It just feels that way because everyone I know is in a secure place right now, but I forget there are so many of us out there.

Yes, definitely donā€™t feel alone. The only schools Iā€™ve gotten into are my state schools. Iā€™ve been waitlisted at the rest of them and am waiting for tufts. I donā€™t even know what to think of it all at this point. But good luck to us all with Tufts!!
