Tufts, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown (SFS?) - Chance me?

I'm really interested in studying International Relations/Foreign Affairs. I like History, English, and foreign languages, so that area of study seemed to be the right fit.

I haven't yet decided whether to apply to Georgetown College or SFS, but, anyway...

thanks so much for helping!

About Me:

I'm a white, female rising senior at a New England prep school. I won't be seeking financial aid. I'm a day student (there are boarders, too) but actually live on campus because my parents are teachers. My school's pretty standard in that category. We're required to do an "activity" (usually a sport) every season. We run on a trimester schedule. I've been on High Honors (for my school it's a 92.3 average or above) every trimester of high school. We get 5 extra points tacked on to the trimester grades for each Honors or AP level class, and those heightened grades are what are used for the calculations of averages for honors. My grades averaged from each trimester without the five points added are what I've listed (this is what appears on my transcript).

-Freshman Year-

English 9: 94
Honors Algebra II: 85
Biology (Standard): 95
Honors Spanish II: 95
World Civilizations (Standard Course): 96
School's Female Chorus (yeah... it's a class at my school): 95

-Sophomore Year-

English 10: 94
Honors Pre-Calc: 90
Chemistry: 95
AP European History: 94
Honors Spanish III: 96
Female Chorus: 97

-Junior Year-

Advanced Physics: 92
News Media (School Newspaper): 99
Literature and History of Elizabethan England*: 93
AP Calculus AB: 86
AP English Language and Composition: 93
Honors Spanish V (No, I didn't skip a level, this is just what my school does.): 97
AP US History: 97

-Senior Year Classes-
BC Calculus (it's also an AP)
AP English Literature
AP Spanish
AP Biology
Writer's Workshop*
Journalism (and Newspaper)
possibly chorus again

- these courses are "Scholars' Courses" - they are college level courses taught in the style of a college class offered by my school to select students. They involve 1 trimester of classroom study and 1 trimester of an independent project.

Scores:

APs:
5 on AP Euro
I don't know the other scores yet, but I'm predicting 4/5 for each

ACT: took it once, not taking it again. Overall Score: 31 - perfect score on Reading, 34 on English, 30 on Math, 25 on Science, 9 on Essay (32 Combined English/Writing.

SAT: I've taken it twice and, again, I'm done.
Highest Scores:
Overall - 1520/1600, 2260/2400
Critical Reading - 800
Math - 720
Writing - 740 (Essay - 8)

SAT Subject Tests:
I'm taking subject tests in US History, Spanish, and Math II in a few days. Depending on how I do I might take Literature in the fall.

Awards:
9th Grade English Award
Spanish II, III, and V Awards

ECs:
I played JV field hockey for two years, JV tennis for 2 years, and I was on Varsity tennis as a junior (so I'll almost certainly play Varsity again next year). I've also done Music Intensives in the afternoon during a few seasons for piano and cello. I take piano and cello lessons once a week and have for a very long time.
I'm trying (trying being the operative word) to teach myself Italian because I really love languages.
I'm a "Board Member" (officer) for my school's Political Awareness Club; it's the biggest club on campus.
I've worked with the school newspaper every year and for my senior year I am one of two EICs.
I have written for and am on the editorial board of our literary magazine.
I was in a school musical junior year.

I know I'm low on the extra-curriculars, there's just so little time with a prep school schedule. We're quite literally booked from 8 am to 8 pm. And we have Saturday classes every other week.

forgot to mention that I’m also a proctor (student leader) and a tutor in my school’s writing center. Both positions require applications and are relatively competitive.

They’re all high matches. Strong academics, bland EC’s. write good essays :)

I agree with noel597 on the academics and ECs. Very good grades, very good test scores. Not so great ECs. Fortunately (in my experience at least), academics are more important than sports and I think you’ll be just fine. Just put a lot of effort into making your application stand out. Help me out? :wink: <a href=“Should I transfer? - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>Should I transfer? - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums;

thanks for the input @noel597‌ and @Dzheims‌!

Update: Going to Yale. And didn’t even end up taking AP Bio.

Congrats on your acceptance to Yale!
