Does anyone know if the Tufts clinical psychology or biopsychology major good?? (Or just psychology majors in general)
As a parent of a psych major, I was very impressed with the psychology offerings and pleased with the outcome.
The Psychology at Tufts is unusually broad (especially given the size of the school) with lots of interdisciplinary/applied offerings. My daughter was able to to keep two related career tracks open until senior year, which was nice.
They Psychology offerings include:
Experimental/General Psych (the most general degree, good prep for Phd/grad school or when combined with a minor in an applied discipline it is good prep for a career in the business sector )
Child Development (popular/good prep for education/research - it has its own school as a working laboratory)
Bio Psych (popular/good prep for Med School/Psychiatry)
Clinical Psych (unusual at the undergrad level, includes an internship. Popular/good for those who who are either sure they want to go into clinical practice, or want early exposure to clinical practice to decide. Often leads to PsyD or other advanced degree)
Cognitive Science (combines Child Dev, Bio, Psych, Philosophy and Computer Science - a good way to pick up computer skills and study Artificial Intelligence. This interdisciplinary area is the theme of a large percentage of the psych related research at Tufts)
Engineering Psych (also called Human Factors or Human/Computer Interaction - good preparation for a career in the psychology side of high tech)
Psych majors will also minor in
Media Studies, Entrepreneurial Leadership, and take courses in the Experimental College to prepare for careers in Advertising and Marketing.
Good luck and fell free to ask more questions.
