tufts rd

I mean this with all respect, but who cares about Tufts' track? I mean its not like a school letting a kid in because they are going to attract more applicants or more money. Football, basketball, baseball, softball, etc. The major sports. How would letting a borderline applicant who runs track benefit the school? This is the reality of college athletics, a school is only gonna stretch a lot if you are a big time athlete in a MAJOR sport for that school. Duke lets guys with a 3.0 in all the time if they can play bball. Tufts is DIII, so no one really pays attention to their athletics, it won't attract more applicants, recruits, or revenue.

ask their coach- im not the one that declared myself an official recruit.

fyi- a D3 championship does attract other athletes. so maybe they care...

Hi chillax - did you fill out a recruiting form on the athletic website and the coach subsequently contacted you? I am asking b/c my D is interested in Tufts and she is a good track athlete. I had suggested to her to fill out the form and see if the coach contacts her. This has happened at Colgate and they are interested in her and suggested that she have her transcript faxed so that the track coach can take it over to admissions to see if there is any chance. She has a 3.91 GPA and is in the top 15 %. She has community service hours and is a three season athlete (soccer -all-league and top-rated state teams, indoor track - Sr.captain, outdoor track - all league, Sr. captain), cerrtified lifeguard work experience at a university). Her SAT's are 1350/2040. Her rec's are great. Do you think any chance at Tufts even though her averages are lower than most? Would she be out of place at such a competitive school? Math is her strength. She would like to take another language (besides French) and go into some international business area.

Based on what happened with my son and his friends last year - at most competitive schools GPA and SAT's matter even for a recruited athlete in many sports. When my son was a rising senior and receiving interest from D3 schools all asked for GPA/SAT/SATII's and what his senior course load would be. The 2 boys with the highest GPA's from my son's high school state champ baseball team are hoping to play D3 ball the rest are finished with varsity baseball and hope to play a club or intramural.

i would definitely suggest filling out the recruiting form. you have nothing to lose and they will likely contact you.
