Tufts Syndrome?

1300/1950

3.62

6 A.P's very hard schedule

awesome recs and extra curriculars

well?

it seems odd you wouldn't be accepted but I highly doubt tufts syndrome would apply to Union. The class of 2011 had a lot of top students and the average GPA was an A-. Also, top students are offered spots in the scholars program so they might invite you to the scholars program if they thought you might be using them as a safety.

you could always contact them and ask where your application could have been stronger. it's hard to tell without seeing you're extra curriculars, your essay, etc. Union seems to look at the whole application and not just numbers.

mavman100, your credentials are simply not exceptional for Union. While I would have thought you would be accepted, a 3.62 (even with the APs) and a 1300 are not much better than the average student who enrolls at Union and are about average for the average applicant accepted at Union. Again, I am surprised you were rejected (there must have been more to it than just those numbers), but you are nowhere near Tufts Syndrome here.

For the class of 2011 at Union College, the average SAT was 1310. Your SATs are, therefore, only average. Average GPA was 90.3. A GPA of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale translates to 90 on a 100 point scale. Your GPA is, therefore, only average. With ever increasing applications, your scores and GPA may have been less than average this year.

No Tufts Syndrome here. Union was not a safety for you. Sorry if you thought it was.

Nope, not Tufts Syndrome by any means. Maybe your subjective (essays recs ecs etc) wasn't good enough.

your stats sound just like mine and i was accepted with an academic scholarship. this definitely doesn't sound like tufts syndrome. you really never know what colleges are going to like you and which aren't. for example, i was waitlisted at a school which is i considered to be much more of a safety, and accepted around the same time to one that i thought was more of a reach. you just never know...
