TUFTS vs. TULANE

Alright so I need a little advice and a lot of opinions.

I got into Tufts U Sackler School for a PhD in Pharmacology and Eperimental Therapeutics. Full scholarship, 31,000 stipend, and full health insurance

I also just got into Tulane U Biomedical Science Program for a PhD in the same. Full scholarship, 27,000 stipend, and full health insurance.

Honestly, both are great programs. I have to decide on a school by Friday. I have made a list of pros and cons, but they both seems to even out. Would I be stupid to not accept Tufts?

Any thoughts/opinions are greatly appreciated.

It’s difficult to give advice, because very few of us know about the relative strengths of PhD departments in Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeudics. In fact, I know so little about it that I’m still not100% sure whether “Epierimental” in your post was a typo or not.

Having said this – both are excellent schools. Tufts is certainly reputed to be harder to get into undergraduate and has a higher undergraduate ranking. However, Tulane’s ug rankings are still being impacted by Katrina-related events (mainly graduation rates).

If you felt that Tulane’s program was better, or there was a particular professor you wanted to study under there, it would make sense as a choice. If the programs are even close to each other qualitatively, and i you think you want to live in the South aftern graduation-- Tulane is certainly a sound choice. If you think you want to live in the East, then Tufts is probably your better choice there (ummm I think).

i wish i had your problems! it seems both offer equally great opportunities, though i don’t know much about either of those programs. go with your gut. where will you be happy?
