Tufts vs. Wellesley

Got into both and wondering where to go. I plan on majoring in
poli sci/sociology/I.R. and all that good stuff. Thanks for any help in advance

Both are great, Wellesley is probably more prestigious, however for most people tufts is probably a better choice, unless you are fine going to same sex college

Assuming you think of yourself as female, we’re good. Otherwise, not. Tufts is awfully good at IR but the students have been known to take themselves a bit too seriously. I went to grad school nearby. Wellesley is a magnificent campus with a great alumnae network and beautiful buildings with rolling lawns. I’d give the edge to Tufts but I’ve a Y chromosome.

Tufts IR is amazing. I’d go with Tufts. Campus is nice, location is great. Both are good options though.

Here’s where Tufts ranks in terms of IR prestige:

With respect to general “prestige”, don’t know how one can make the case that Wellesley has more of it than Tufts. Nor would I say students at Tufts “take themselves too seriously”. That’s probably true of a certain percentage of students at any elite college. My D at Tufts can attest to the lack of such a thing and would say that her fellow Jumbos are even more friendly, low-key and interesting than she might have expected (she’s a science major). Have to say she loved her visit to Wellesley, though, and would have applied there RD, if not for being slipped the word from some students on campus that the place could get “lonely on the weekends”. By contrast, Tufts students really benefits from closer proximity to Somerville/ Medford/ Boston. Always things to do.
