Tuition for 2011

Exeter already has it.

Tuition will rise to $41,800 for boarders, a 4.8 percent increase, and to $32,470 for day students, a 5.4-percent boost.

Likely will still be the lowest among peer schools.

They have a huge endowment relative to the others and heavily subsidize their tuition to a larger extent than the others can afford. Taft was $45K and change for this past year. Still worth it given the abyss of a school district my daughter left back home. … sigh

Ditto :(

Even these small increases (about 1800 for Exeter?) must be really tough on those just- barely-able-to-afford-it full pay families.

Ditto. And it’s probably 1800, 3800, 6000, 7300 (+$40k) for a four-year senior.

Besides Exeter and Andover, another peer school that has relatively low tuition is Hotchkiss. The tuition INCLUDING mandatory fees there is $43,500 for 2010. Most other peer schools charge $45,000+ for tuition plus another $1000 or so for mandatory fees.

And to add to the savings at H, I’m pretty sure there is no extra charge for music lessons. That’s another 1500 to 2000.

neato, I do think my friend at H did pay for private music lessons. Am I mistaken?

At DA, if you get FA then extras like music and dance lessons you also get a break. Not free, we are not on 100% FA, but a generous portion is paid by the school.

Its like a ppo, a co-pay is how I look at it.

Right. DA’s tuition is comparable to Hotchkiss’ except it doesn’t include the mandatory fees

kisskob, I was curious so I looked it up. It appears that if you take applied music for credit, there is no additional fee, but if you just audit, there is a fee.
