My son has made his college selection. We wanted him to make a decision based on fit and rank finances as secondary since some scholarship notifications came late in the process. Fortunately after appeals, all the scholarships made our cost net out to almost a wash.

What I didn't consider was the average tuition rate increase over 4 years. I would expect that it is different for different universities.

Does anyone know how to find average tuition rate increase for RIT, Drexel, Northeastern or Carnegie Mellon?

A good ball-park figure is 5%-7% per year. The best way to get the figures for the places on your list will be to google the last four or five years’ worth of Cost of Attendance, and then compare them. Even then, that is no guarantee that the rate of increase will be the same in future years. Talk to the financial aid office at the institution that your son is planning to attend, and find out if his scholarship will increase along with increases in costs, or if it will remain a fixed amount for future years.

Thanks. I had tried to Google, but it wasn’t so straigt forward for some of the schools. I was hoping someone knew of a website that tracked this sort of thing. I didn’t realize that merit aid could increase - I’ll call the FA office.
