I have been accepted to these three schools. I am also a athlete who wants to play baseball. I can go to Babson (Division 3), and play ball, or go to Michigan or Tulane (Both Div. 1) and try to walk on. Tulane is giving me a nice $17,000 a year scholarship as well. I am yet to hear from my pre-admit decision into Ross at Michigan. I am highly interested in business/finance. Can someone give some advice as to where I should go. Athletics, academics, social life, and college experience are all major factors in my decision. Please give advice/opinions!!! Thanks!

Well you know Tulane baseball is great, and Tulane is first rate for finance. But don’t pick based on thinking you want finance, pick based on the best school for you. Would you be happy even if you didn’t make the team at Tulane or Michigan? Big state school vs. private school, smaller classes, how important is that? Big time football and basketball at MU vs not so big time at Tulane, except for baseball. Take your major out of the equation, weigh these and other factors of what’s important to you otherwise, and try to get a gut feeling of which one seems right for you. That is the way to go.

I was in your shoes a year ago. I had a decision between University of Michigan and Tulane. I chose tulane and I am now regretting it. The students here are not as smart as the scores show and the administration treats its students terribly. Please do not make the same mistake I did.

wwvw, i would recommend you transfer away from Tulane. Seriously, all of your posts that you’ve made on CC have been about how much you hate Tulane. That’s ok. You’ve had a bad experience and I would’ve hated TU if I had had a bad experience as well. I had a great one though so I stayed, got involved, and found a major that I loved and have built a career in. I actually transfered into Tulane and it worked out well for me. I just don’t think you should stay at a school that is obviously making you miserable. Transfering is not hard to do, particularly if you were originally accepted to the university as a freshmen. You usually only have to send them your freshmen years grades at your current college and then fill out a quick form. Look into it.

wwvw – you’re obviously a very dissatisfied customer – it happens. But what you’re saying sounds like a personal problem.

You complained about Tulane students not being as smart as test scores would indicate. Well if you’re so smart, wherever you transfer to, you better get a better grip on grammar. In a post on another thread you wrote “students parents,” should be students’ parents.

Yes, clearly wwvw is just a flamer, so best to just ignore I suppose. I mean, how mature and intelligent can he be, making posts that have nothing behind them except vitriol?

Go to Michigan even if you don’t get into Ross EA. They have a beautiful brand new baseball stadium that you’d love if you make the team. Academically, if you do well in your first year, you should get into Ross as a sophomore.

Actually, Tulane has a new stadium as well, FYI. Opened last year or the year before, I forget which, but it is very nice also.
