Tulane or Cornell

Not if they know what is good for them.

I didn’t say what we were singing…

Happy birthday to you…

happy birthday dear FC…

FC Now we all know. Not so Confidential. LOL We were in NO for four glorious days at the end of Feb. Just before the Superbowl. That’s when he fell in love. Will keep you posted. Have a great birthday and thanks for the support. Really.

I hope the fire truck wasn’t dispatched when the candles were lit. Happy Birthday FC!

momwithpride: My D goes to Cornell (a junior) and my S goes to Tulane (freshman). We are paying full price at both schools (weren’t given a dime). Neither D or S are in pre-med, but if you have any other questions, I would be happy to give u an answer and/or my opinion.

FC: Happy belated birthday.

Thanks Martini. I sent the wheelchair back, not quite ready for it yet.

Heard you can do great wheelies in that chair, FC ;)

Just you watch the next X Games.

Maybe that will become a new Div I sport

Oh thank you MartiniGirl! That’s amazing. I sent you a PM. Would love to hear from you about your thoughts on both schools.

As a TU current student (originally from the NE) I would imagine location would be a huge issue to take into consideration.

There is a difference between loving New Orleans as a city, and loving living there. I guess one would not know until he or she lives there for an extended period of time, but it is just a very different climate (for better and for worse)

Hi Vitaebellaa. Could you elaborate on your remarks about loving NOLA as a city and loving living there? And about the climate? Thanks. (P.S. Do you know anything about the drama program?) My daughter is an admitted student. Other choices are Sarah Lawrence and Pace University (admitted into the BFA Acting program). Thanks!

I just posted this on the FA thread, but I thought I would tell you here, that Tulane will not increase/match Cornell’s FA offer for my son. We are off to Cornell tomorrow and then he will have to choose. It is truly a tough decision, but I believe that Cornell now has moved into first place. Although we have stopped discussing the pros and cons for the moment, it appears that the FA and some other factors are pushing him towards Cornell. I will miss having the chance to go to NO several times a year, but i will not sway him. He has to make the decision on his own.

We will see when we visit. I will let you know. I got a wonderful perspective from Martini Girl who has a son at Tulane and a daughter at Cornell. I thank you all for your generous thoughts and help. To be continued…

After much consideration, serious soul searching and long difficult discussions, my son has decided to attend Cornell University in the fall. He is settled with his decision and happy. Ithaca is beautiful and the program he is entering felt right to him. I want to thank all of you on the Tulane forum for your help and advice. This is a great forum (the best forum!) because of the constant and caring folks who give their time and wisdom to parents and students who are moving through a very difficult process. In our last discussion, we ended with how 4 years goes by very quickly and New Orleans and Tulane Medical School will still be there then. Best wishes to you all and thanks again for your help.

good luck to your s, momwithpride. Just remind him to think of the warm, sunny weather in NOLA in the middle of the NY winter  (jk)

Oh he will. He definitely will!

Good to hear, momwithpride. I still smile when I think of that remark by your mother, “We should all have such problems.”

Darn it, really wanted to snare another from an Ivy! If course, the only important thing is that he is happy with his choice and has a wonderful 4 years at Cornell. Very best of luck to him.
