add to rodney - way nicer campus, higher level peers, Mardi Gras. But having said all that, Pitt and Tulane are extremely different. I lived in Pittsburgh for 10 years, and graduated from Tulane. Tulane might not suit you at all, you really should try and go during this Destination Tulane coming up soon and see for yourself. It is worth whatever effort it takes for you to do that, since this is such a critical decision in your life, not to mention the money involved.

qazwsx1! FYI, Wake’s admission office was giving out the decisions over the phone yesterday & today because so many did not get the letters. They are open from 8:30 till 5:00 but you probably have to wait till Monday now. S got waitlisted at Wake and accepted at Tulane. We’re going down to Tulane to check it out for ourselves but S really was set on going to Wake.

Tulane is in a great city, small but nice campus, but has a minor issue with crime and of course hurricanes but overall a good experience. Lots of opportunities to do volunteer work. It had tons of applicants this year, around 40,000, so if you got a scholarship, give it serious consideration.

Pitt - state school (with concern about budget cuts and OOS residents picking up the monetary slack); 15,662 undergraduates; 17 to 1 faculty ratio; 68% Pennsylvania residents.
Tulane - private university; 6,000 undergraduates; 8 to 1 faculty ratio; smaller classes; more personal attention; a student body from all over the US; merit scholarship

These were strong factors in helping my S decide on Tulane. Other factors were New Orleans and the warmer weather.
