I got a large envelope from Tulane saying I was “priority consideration” and that application fees would be waved as well as I would be automatically considered for scholarship. It also said I could do alum interviews with EA/ED. It also made me an account and usernames / passwords. Is this like all the other stuff colleges send in the mail, or is this something to seriously consider? I can’t really tell if they send this to a lot of people or not? Thanks!
My son received the same mailing and it has been a topic of discussion on the Parents of 2018 thread, so I think it went to a lot of others too. This priority consideration from Tulane seems to be a marketing ploy. there is no app fee for Tulane for anyone; thus, they aren’t really waiving anything. Also, everyone who applies by a certain date gets automatic scholarship consideration and the opportunity for alumni interviews. Sorry! Good luck in your application process this year!
Tulane is a free application, period. I think lots of higher stats kids just apply as a throwaway application to see what the offers look like. Tulane then waitlists . Only apply if is a real consideration.
Tulane doesn’t charge anybody an application fee. There was a thread about this mailing somewhere here on CC. It’s not selective. If you already liked Tulane, go ahead and apply.
