I need help decide if between these two and making a pro and con list
Is cost an issue? Are you in-state for UCR?
Im in state. Cost isn’t an issue but Tulane is $12000 more
Have you been to Riverside? I think it is adjacent to hell. The smog and traffic are horrible. When I lived in LA Riverside was known for gangs as well. I would pay $12,000 a year just to not live in Riverside! I am half kidding, maybe 10% kidding, and I would not want you to accumulate too much debt. But if those were my 2 choices, I would seriously consider Tulane.
Have you made your own pro/con list? I think if you share that we can help better with your decision making.
I’d go to Tulane. Just drove through Riverside on the way to Palm Desert yesterday- it’s pretty bad. There is not much to commend it.
Pro-ucr is close to home and cheap
Con-hard to get classes and large classroom size
Tulane pro is its more undegrad based and has private school resources with its size
Con-expensive and far from home would be paying $43000 compared to $32000
If cost truly isn’t an issue then, looking at your list, Tulane certainly outweighs Riverside in every way!
So you are admitted to both and have merit aid to Tulane? Have you visited Tulane? NOLA is quite different than Riverside which can be good and bad. I’ve passed through Riverside a few times but lived in NOLA for 2 years. Buy rain boots.
The two schools offer totally different academic environments. I would pick Tulane if your parents are OK with the price difference but that’s paying cash, not $30k in loans. If you need $20k in loans across 4 years for Tulane, then maybe.
Intended major? Tulane offers a lot of flexibility and has good advising.
I’ve been to both and we would be paying everything without loans but I would have to take out a loan for grad school
