<p>No clue but I know that the major was originally created as an excuse to get a golf course on campus. Gotta love VT ingenuity.</p>

<p>Well, the school president got people who wanted to do it and it brought money into the school, as well as providing us with a course for our club golf team which has brought us a lot of publicity lately with having a British amateur open winner and allowed people who wanted to study it in the future to study it, so I guess that is a good reason to add a major.</p>
