My point was that the elites select for the movers and the shakers in the admissions process. They love to see leadership and initiative. However, they are now saying they’re not getting enough authentic compassion and true intellectual curiosity. Well, some movers and shakers will also be compassionate and intellectually curious, and others won’t. To combat the latter problem, they are suggesting downplaying the importance of test scores and advanced classes. That in itself will not necessarily result in greater intellectually curiosity among admitted students, and may actually make the problem worse! And if you want more compassion, you might find that among the worker bee students more so than the big shot leaders with the impressive titles.
