Tutoring = Job/Occupation?

Hey, guys!

Since my freshman year, I've tutored many immigrant students in English, not simply for the pay, but for my own practice in speaking two languages, as well as the for the sheer joy of helping cute little kids learn. :]

Sure, I have a list of other jobs I've had over the years, but do you think listing these tutoring sessions as "job" would be valid? I've had some for many years, and have been fairly committed to all of them. However, I'm afraid that colleges will think it's too "lame" or dismiss it as a sad attempt at boosting my resume. :/

What should I do?

Thankss in advance.

I think it's a great job to put on your application. I was a volunteer tutor and I'm pretty sure all 3 of my alumni interviewers absolutely loved it. It's just a nice thing to help people learn.

If you were paid, then yes, it's a job. I tutored many students, some for pay and some for free, so I would put "Students" as employers, the grades I worked, the hours/week, etc. I also put "Volunteer tutoring" in the volunteering sections.
