Two Campuses

I’m wondering how having two campuses and potentially living on Newton affects social life. Not a big fan of it, but I haven’t visited(yet) so I don’t how much of a negative it would be for me. Is it a big problem or is it not much of an issue?

Newton campus is home to the Law School and approximately 40% of freshmen live there. It has a nice suburban feel and is about 1.5 miles from the main campus. There is a shuttle bus that runs constantly from 6:00 am until 2:00 am. All classes and student life are on the main Chestnut Hill campus. Honestly it has no affect on your social life if you live on Newton as a freshman. Since there are so many freshmen that do live there, you hardly feel alone. It even has it’s own cafeteria (Stuart) which arguably has the best food at BC. People that live on Newton end up loving it and talk about the real sense of community that they get there. You will still have friends that aren’t on Newton and you’re on the main campus everyday for class and virtually every other aspect of your student life at BC. Don’t let this deter you from BC, it’s great. Plus it is only freshmen housing so there’s 0 chance of living there in your other years.

hopefultransferstudnt7996 described Newton very well.

While it’s true the bus ride back-n-forth does get old as the year rolls on, there are many intangible pluses to living on Newton.

Small nit: didn’t BC start offering some small, Frosh seminars on Newton last year?

Bigger nit: obviously, not “all” student life is on main campus if only half of the Frosh live there.

Agree with the rest of your post. My D and her friends, who lived on main campus, used to take the bus to Newton to eat for a cheap ‘date’ night.
