Two Concentrations at UCLA?

I was admitted to UCLA as a poly sci major. When I transfer in the fall, can i have two concentrations (international relations, American politics) or will they make me pick one? Ultimate goal is to be a lawyer, so i figure american politics would help me with that. But i loved IR at my CCC.

Under current requirements for pol sci at UCLA, you have to pick one concentration and two distributions with the lower division completed for each (plus you’ll need one more lower division pol sci and statistics if you don’t already have them).

The major is 10 upper division classes, including four classes from the concentration, two classes from each distribution, and two electives from any field. To get more IR in, you might want to try something like this:

Concentration: American Politics (4 courses)
Distribution 1: International Relations (2 courses + 2 electives = 4 courses)
Distribution 2: other field (2 courses)
10 courses total

Your second distribution can be selected from political theory, comparative politics, or methods and models. Classes in one subfield may, and often do, overlap with others (but will only fulfill requirements for one).

I think it’s wise to take courses that will interest you and not to worry too much about the field.
