Abinta Kabir, an Emory Univ student at the Oxford campus, and Faraaz Hossain, a recent Oxford graduate ?who was to start at Goizuetta this fall, were among the 20 hostages killed in the Islamic terrorist attack yesterday in Dhaka. Abinta was from Miami and was visiting family in Bangladesh. Faraaz was from Dhaka. One assumes that they were at the cafe together.
An uspeakably horrendous and heinous act has claimed these two young lives, far too early, among many others.
So very sad. We will be very careful where we travel from now on. Istanbul too was on my bucket list. I guess not anymore.

First thing I read when I woke up this morning. Just seems surreal and crushing.
My condolences to the survivors and the families of the deceased.
Faraaz apparently could have left and saved himself, but wouldn’t leave Abinta and the other American student behind.
