Which is a better university for undergraduates?

depends on what you're looking for..for me, UoC.

They are very different, so it depends upon what you like and what your goals are.

what about an undergrad in chemistry?

Both are great schools. I live near Northwestern and love its campus so maybe I'm a bit biased towards it. UChicago is more hard core intellectual and probably more of an interesting student body while Northwestern is more well-rounded which might also translate as bland. Big ten sports give Northwestern another dimension very different from UChicago. It's also right on the lake with a fine view of Chicago. UChicago is prettier in terms of the architecture but not the campus itself. Both are "near but not in" a great city so ideal schools in many ways. Although getting into town from either is a bit of a hassle without a car.

Chicago is intellectual where Northwestern is preprofessional. This is clearly demonstrated by Chicago's excellence in physics and Northwestern's in engineering. Chicago produces scholars, Northwestern produces journalists. I'm sure more of these comparisons abound.

what about pre-med? (non-HPME)

do either offer undergraduate business??

Northwestern doesn't have an undergrad business program, I don't think, at least not one in Kellogg.

chicago doesnt have one either

Northwestern does have an undergrad business program

they are both exceptional schools...depends on if you are intellectual and scholarly or well-rounded and competitive.

Dan,
The highest ranking undergraduate business school in Midwest is the Ross B-school in UMich-Ann Arbor.
USNEWS ranks it #3 in the nation. The top 3 are Upenn Wharton, MIT Sloan, UMich Ross, and UCB Hass.

yea i kno i was just wondering if chicago or northwestern had an undergraduate business program becuase i kno that they have good graduate ones but wasnt sure of undergrad
