U. of Chicago and Duke -- THATS IT!

<p>So I'm pretty much praying to get into these schools. i have safeties and matches but I would love to go to university of chicago or duke. </p>

<p>Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Indian
-- Senior in competitive high school (the schools sends LOTS of kids to top colleges each year, we already have 10+ ivies)</p>

<p>GPA: 3.85 uw / 3.9 w
Rank: school doesn't give this info (top 10% most likely, out of about 710)</p>

<p>SAT Scores:
- Reasoning (January): M-720, CR-720, W-630 (1440/2070)
- Reasoning (October): M-780, CR-680, W-780 (1460/2240)
- Composite: (1500/2280)</p>

<li>Math II - 730</li>
<li>Biology (e) - 620 (DAMMIT, i dont kno what happened, took again in Dec.)</li>
</ul>

<p>AP Scores:
- Sophomore Year: AP Calculus AB - 5
- Junior Year: AP Statistics - 5
- Current AP classes: AP Psychology, AP Calculus BC, AP European History, AP Biology</p>

<p>Other current classes:
- Honors English IV, Honors Spanish IV (4 years of spanish)</p>

<li>My course load has been relatively difficult over the 4 years (I moved during high school, so some scheduling problems prevented me from taking even more challening courses =/)</li>

- MUN - 4 years (VP for 11th and 12th grade)
- Youth Council - 3 years (VP for 11th and 12th grade, ran education committee for 12th)
- Medical Futures - 2 years
- Asian Club - 4 years (Treasurer for 12th)
- other clubs from my first highschool (before I moved) don't show up on the transcript but I explained that
- TaeKwonDo - roughly 7 years
- I play the dhol, a drum of indian origin, as a hobby - roughly 2 years</p>

<p>Others:
- National Honor Society
- History Honor Society
- I took an honors chem credit course over the summer after sophomore year and got an A
- I took a medically related program this past summer at a local hospital (very selective program) in which I learned extensively about the human anatomy. Also, there were lectures and seminars on various topics from patient centered medicine to medical school experiences.
- I want to major in Bio (eventually go to med)</p>

<p>what makes me say that is the lack of significant difference from your UW to W GPA; i understand that you moved during high school, but these schools are competitive enough that they can always turn to other applicants that took more challenging courses</p>

<p>also, the 620 in bio is inexcusable for an aspiring BIO MAJOR. maybe for another major, it'd be fine but a 620's not going to cut it (and you're asian too...no explanation needed there)</p>

<p>the bright side is...u of chicago loves good essays. so that'll either get u in or rejected.</p>

<p>I actually realized there is a mistake in my post, my weighted GPA is about 3.9 but i dont kno my unweighted. It's not a 3.85 because I've taken ALL honors and/or AP classes. </p>

<p>For my SAT subject test in bio, i udnerstand this score will hurt me a lot...but i retook it and will see what happens. regardless, i kno i want to major in biology, so that wont stop me! lol</p>
