For someone who plans on becoming a physicist, where would be a better place to complete a PhD in physics? U of Chicago or Cal tech?

I know both are great schools, but I need some perspectives.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

What field do you want to go into? Are you considering an academic career? If so your graduate advisor is probably more important than the school (at least when comparing among top schools.) I’d suggest figuring out who you’d like to work with and applying for a position in that professor’s research group.

Also remember that a PhD is a long, hard process. So choose someplace where you won’t be miserable.
