BTW UF's 2006 profile is 1220 - 1390

Just from a personal standpoint: I got into Honors at both, and I'm at UF. Decided that it wasn't worth paying anything for an OOS school when I can go free three times over to UF and not be at any disadvantage.

Hi MiveraMoon,

So you only choose UF for the $... or did you believe that the education was equivalent and that you could get into a great grad school from both?

(Currently live in Calif. and deciding between UF, UNC, and Univeristy of Californias... )

Son is a Florida resident and was accepted to both schools. Both are great schools and offer tremendous academic opportunities for students. UF may offer more opportunities because of it's size. For example UNC does not have an engineering program. In my opinion, if you are a resident of North Carolina or Florida, it would be hard to justify spending the extra money to go out of state to attend the other school.

Son will be attending the Honors College at UF in the Fall.

Son is a North Carolina resident and was accepted to both schools. Son will be attending the Honors College at UF in the Fall because of a National merit scholarship.

UF is drastcally reducing their NM sholarships for the class of 2011. This will probably make the school less attractive for OOS students.

That's exactly it. You're going to get the SAME education at both schools for undergrad. Graduate schools can vary muchly, but UF can be just as fantastic for you as you want it to be. The courses are so diverse because of the sheer size of the school, and you'll definitely have a fantastic selection of study abroad and research opportunites.

Note: I'm getting the $24,000 from National Merit, 100% Bright Futures, and 100% Florida Prepaid (tuitoon and room/board). It's the awesomeness. UNC doesn't come close.

I'm a Florida resident and was accepted at both. For a long time, UNC was my favorite school and I was somewhat certain that I wanted to go there. Then I decided to use common sense and since the undergraduate education available at both schools is the same (it's about the student, not the school) I decided I would be crazy not to take the money UF was throwing at me: NMF scholarship, 100% bright futures. Also, the extra attention you get for being an honors student is awesome. Much better dorms, your own advisors (at a school of UF's size this is huge), priority registration. It's great to be a Florida Gator!

So are you guys still coming to UF next fall?

Seems like we have them beat in the athletics department.
