How do they compare?
What are the pros and cons of each school?
They are both pretty much LACs and I don't see much differences in them.

Notre Dame is certainly not a LAC.

I know. They both aren’t. What I meant to say was they are much like LACs meaning they have the LACs atmophere.

UGH! I’m trying to help my son with those two also. He was accepted as a Monroe Scholar at W&M and to the Glynn Family Honors Program at ND. Here are some aspects he points out:

W&M: lots of frats, nicer weather, not quite same “ra-ra school spirit” as ND, but still high. Closest city (for travel purposes): DC
ND: no frats, religious, separate m/f dorms, parietals, new emphasis on sciences (I think). Amazing school spirit, yucky weather, food rated best, Closest city: Chicago

I don’t think ND has much of a LAC atmosphere either, considering it’s about 5x the size of a typical LAC, and has a large postgraduate population. Not to mention the pre-professional tendencies of the student body.

Congrats on two great options! ND advantage- Sports jumps off the page, although W&M is improving, ND is the top of the heap. If you are catholic, ND is again Nirvana. W&M is more secular obviously. Weather is big advantage W&M. Love 60s&70s in Jan/Feb. Close to the beach is another draw. Academics is a tie, both are top drawer. Really depends on the atmosphere and environment you want for 4 yrs.

Congrats on great choices. Go visit both and you gut wont fail you.
