What were her stats?
I was just emailed my acceptance yesterday and I AM EXCITEDDDDD to go garnet
DS was accepted RD back in mid-Feb. No scholarship in March. But, just received a scholarship out of the blue today. Any one else?
Awesome. How much ?? Maybe their acceptance rate is below expectation and they are panicked to get butts in seats. There are myriad reasons to commit early to a school. But just as many not to !! Possible leverage.
Thing is he committed almost two weeks ago.
About $22K total - not much but I’m asking why not more tomorrow?
They’re not good business people:). But congrats to you.
DD (Out of state) was also notified that she received additional scholarship money last night. She was accepted EA and received a merit scholarship/tuition reduction at time of acceptance (although not as much as she hoped for). The amount awarded last night was an additional 50% above the original scholarship amount.
Of course she made her final decision last week to attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the Fall and is very happy with her decision. Her initial first choice and love was USC (I graduated from there) but when I asked her if this additional money changed her mind at all she said no.
Still - that’s awesome for her. Congrats - it’s a feel good thing!!!
Does anyone have a daughter looking for a roommate in East Quad? This housing process is quite a mess/challenge the way they are doing it this year. Thanks!
My son made it off waitlist today!! USC is his top school! His dad went there! We are super excited! Good luck to others waiting!!!
Congratulations! What were his stats?
Those that got off the waitlist…did you get any merit?
Nope! They said they gave away all their merit scholarships but I;m pretty sure they’re divvying them out to people who were accepted earlier.
Did you end up getting in?
There is no reason to think the schools did not model the ‘casting a wide net’ into their yield calculation. Sure they may dip a little more if their model is not accurate, but that is more hope than anything else.
when did you guys get off the waitlist last year… im in the same boat as USC is my number 1 choice
Hi, I saw your post. My son is applying to USC Honors but I’ve heard great things about Capstone program, too. Do you mind me asking wha you meant when you said Capstone was more “her people”? how would you describe the difference in the people in each program? Thanks!!
She found the Capstone kids to be very work hard/play hard. Great students who typically did very well in their classes but had a lot of fun/didn’t take themselves so seriously. The Capstone dorm was close-knit and everyone loved living there. She went on to become a Capstone Fellow which helped her land some leadership positions on campus her junior and senior years.
