Anyone have any knowledge of programs for physical therapy from high school at U of Scranton?

anyone bump???

I am not clear on what you are asking.

Scranton offers the Doctor of PT. Some students are offered a guaranteed seat in the doctoral program as incoming freshmen as long as they continue to meet certain standards and requirements. There is no undergrad degree in PT, so most who go on for the DPT will major in exercise science, biochem, biology or similar programs for their BS degree.

I was wondering about the admission process for incoming freshman with guaranteed seats, admission requirements, being their site is very vague.

I think it may vary with each incoming class, depending on the strength of that class. That is probably why there are no specific criteria listed. I do know a person who received a guaranteed seat, received her BS in exercise science, and is currently in the doctoral program. She is very bright and works very hard. She was in the top 5% of her HS class, with a solid gpa.

If you have questions, contact Scranton. They are generally very helpful.

I am in the top 5% of my class, SATS - 1860…i could go on with my resume. what are your thoughts?

Sounds similar to her. Do you have honors and AP courses? How are your EC’s? She was pretty strong in both areas.

Sounds like you might have a good chance at a guaranteed seat, but it could depend on how many other applicants have a stronger application. And I suppose that can vary each year. Have you visited the campus yet or spoken with anyone there?

I am also a hispanic/white male from central nj.

I would think you have an excellent chance at a guaranteed seat!

I am extremely confused at their admission process. Do I just apply as an undergrad, and then i am told if I achieved a guaranteed seat? Or do I have to indicate that I am interested in a guaranteed seat…their website doesnt help…

When the person I know applied, I believe she was notified of the guaranteed seat when she received her acceptance to the school. But that was back in early 2007, so it may have changed.

Again, contact the university. Definitely schedule a visit and perhaps set up a meeting with someone in PT or ask admissions to set up a meeting for you. That is the best way to get the current, correct information. Ask them about your chances for the guaranteed seat. They can answer a lot of your questions.

Do you know how well they are with financial aid?

We thought they were pretty generous with merit money. My D received substantial merit money plus some need based for a little bit lower SAT and a 10% class rank, plus some unique ECs. S received some merit money (didn’t think he would receive any).

My parents really only seem like they want to pay 25-35kish? Would their FA be that good enough?
