I am trying to decide between going to Virginia Tech or University of Toronto for Computer Science. My problem is that I've heard it would be much harder to get a job in the US if I graduate from Toronto as opposed to Virginia Tech. I am a dual citizen by the way in both Canada and the US - born in Canada.

Toronto has a really great computer science grad program (it’s internationally renown)-I don’t know much about VT. In terms of hiring, there are companies that hire in both places. (Also remember for US companies that Toronto is well known -it would be different if you were going to Trent or Guelph-not many people outside of Canada know about Trent/ Guelph-but most know about Toronto (all three are great schools though)

In terms of choosing-I would look into where you want to work post-graduation. US? Canada? If its Canada then go to UofT (less people know about VTech in Canada then Americans know about U of T) If your positive you want to work in the states though that’s a harder choice. (unless you want to work around the VA area then tech might be better)

You should also use other ways to decide to:
What things did you like about both campuses? (just curious cause VT is in Blacksburg which is the opposite of Toronto)
Which is more expensive?
Which one did you like better?
How do their programs compare?

You’ll probably be happy with whatever school you pick. You have a hard decision-but I think whatever choice you make will be fine!

(I’m from both too and I have friends at both schools and they all like both schools)
