Would you guys mind chancing me for the schools I’m still waiting on?
UCR is my top choice school, but I think I’ve been waitlisted. I’d also really like to get into the other two as well.
Thank you very much, and best of luck to everyone!
What do you mean you “think” you are waitlisted? They either waitlist/accept or deny you. What did your portal say for UCR? I also think it is 50/50 on your acceptance for UCR and CPP. SAT is on target but GPA is low.
Hey there Gumbymom, I’ve stumbled upon your posts on here in the past and they’ve been super informative!
I got a pop-up that came up randomly saying that I was wait listed, but it disappeared and hasn’t come back to give me a chance to get on the actual waitlist. The site still says my app is pending review. I called the Admissions office and they think it’s a computer glitch or something, and that I should follow up with them if it isn’t fixed tomorrow.
Do you have any idea about UCM or CPP?
Thank you!
I stated above, it could be 50/50 with UCR and CPP. Biology is a highly applied and pretty competitive major for both schools and your GPA is on the low end but your SAT is on target. For CPP, I think you will get into your alternate major pretty easily but UCR could go either way. I believe you have a good chance at UCM. I am really surprised that these schools are taking so long with acceptances this year so hopefully admissions was truthful and they will have the decisions out at the end of March. I wish you Good luck and hope you get some good news. I always love to proven wrong when it comes to the chance threads…
Thank you very much @gumbymom
Commentary from members like you helps to calm tons of anxious college applicants down. I’m sure I can speak for all applicants when I say that.
I’m 99% sure that I’m waitlisted at UCR, and I’ve got no clue as to what my chances are of getting a Fall spot. Hopefully it’s over 50%.
Getting either major at Pomona would be great, but I really do hope I get into Merced. It’s definitely my second choice, behind UCR!
Bump, and also, I’m now on the waitlist at UCR for my alternate major.
@BasedMatt: Sorry to hear about UCR. UC admissions are super tough this year. Glad both my sons are done with college admissions and are in good schools. With the budget issues this year, I think many good applicants are getting waitlisted until it is resolved, unfortunately, hearing if you are accepted will take another few months. No fun living with that uncertainty. I hope you have some good news soon from UCM.
Thank you for the words of encouragement. It is what it is, and I’ll take the best option that presents itself. Now if only CPP and UoP would hurry up!!!
Congratulations!!! UCR is a great school and I am sure you will succeed.
@Gumbymom thank you so much for your insight throughout the college app process, you’ve really helped me. Is it wrong for me to still be considering CSUN as well as Riverside?
@BasedMatt: There is nothing wrong in considering CSUN vs. Riverside. Is the cost difference a huge concern? . My younger son has been slightly harassed by some of his HS classmates for picking SDSU over UCR, but so far the it has been best choice for him in regards to major, social scene and overall college experience. Both schools wil give a solid education and as long as you take advantage of any opportunities available to you, ultimately you will excel. Good Luck with your decision.
@Gumbymom The cost factor not a huge influence, even though it’s significantly more expensive.
If costs are not a huge issue, I favor UCR since I believe it is a highly underrated UC and there many research opportunities more readily available since you plan to pursue a degree in Bio.
