UC and prospective UC poker players.

Hey guys, so I love to play poker (particularly on Full Tilt) and I'm wondering if there are any other fellow poker aficionados out there on the UC transfer board.

I'm not supposed to play for money (age-related restriction....) however, I often do and I also play with the "play money" on there.

I'm asking if there are other poker players because when I do end up attending a UC (most likely UCB or Davis) I want to create or join a poker club or maybe a big monthly poker game. It'd be cool to see if anyone would be interested in joining such a game in the fall.

Let me know if anyone likes poker or would like to play sometime now (online) or in the future at a UC.

If anyone wants to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 instead, send me a friend request on XBL. Gamertag is LakerForever24

Thanks for the insightful reply, laker! lol jk, it’s all good. Hope to see you in the fall anyway at UCB.

i actually got a really nice set of copag cards last christmas so i’m gonna try to learn how to play soon. i know the basic rules and stuff, but that’s about it

what kind of poker? all i really play is texas hold ‘em…though i’m sure i’d like the other kinds once exposed to them lol, and i love cod too  unfortunately, i don’t have it and am forced to play at friends’ and cousins’ houses lol but anyways, yea, i’d love to play in the future at UC…if i get accepted…which i’m sorta doubting…lol

I’m a five or seven card stud kind of girl myself (awkward). I applied to Davis, so if I get accepted, and you go there, and I some how meet you, count me in for poker.

Well if you end up in LA for some reason hit me up, I’m a HUGE hold em’ fan and am always down for a Saturday night around the poker table.

If we both ended up at ucla or cal I’de play. I’m not very good at poker though.

texas hold 'em is my main extracurricular.

This is fantastic! I can’t believe there are so many avid poker players! Poker is definitely my main extracurricular as well…or perhaps College Confidential lately lol.

My game is Texas Hold Em (strictly No Limit). Although, I’m proficient in 7-card stud as well. I plan on playing in the WSOP when I turn 21…so far from there though lol. Despite that, it gives me time to continue practicing and developing my game.

I love No Limit, and online I typically play $20-$100 sit-n-go’s, but I’m decent at cash games too. Of course, I’m always down for sitting down with some buddies and putting down $5 a pop for a night game.

@corinnejay, yeah, I applied to UCLA and Cal, and there’s a strong chance I’ll end up at one of them if I’m accepted. If we end up going to the same school, I’m in!

@CBBolts, yeah, if I go to UCLA, I’ll definitely hit you up! I may be wrong, but aren’t you a phil major? I applied as a double major (psych/phil) so it’d be awesome to play some Saturday night poker if I end up going.

@uber_cast, if I go to Davis, and there’s a really good chance if I don’t get into Cal or UCLA, then I’ll play some poker with you if we end up meeting.

@lomkh, correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you have a 4.0? I’m sure you have a great shot at Cal, even if you did apply for Haas. Do you have UCLA or Davis as backups? If so, then there’s a good shot we somehow end up at the same university. I’m in for Texas Hold Em anytime if so.

@lakerforever, yeah if you learn to play Hold Em’, who knows, maybe we’ll end up getting a Saturday night poker game with lomkh and corrinejay or something.

Anyways, the university poker life will be relative to where we all go, and hopefully the majority of us can end up where we want to be!

I’m so in! My dad works for Harrahs and he taught my sis and I how to play when we were like five haha. My favorite’s seven-card, but nobody plays that anymore, so Texas and five-card are awesome too.

cpbbookworm, where do you want to go in the fall? I like 7-card and Texas Hold Em (mostly), so I’m in for either game. I can’t believe your dad works for Harrah’s; that’s really cool. I’m pretty sure Harrah’s sponsors the WSOP too, but I could be wrong.

Which harrahs? I live right next to the one in tahoe.

He owns a PR/political media company and they’re one of his clients so he does some of their advertising campaigns. He meets with them at their headquarters in Vegas and I believe he also did some post-Katrina stuff in the south, but I’m not super close to him anymore so I’m not exactly sure.

I applied to Cal, LA, Davis, and SD, and I’d be happy going to any of those except SD. I am sooooo down for poker. I have a whole set of clay chips living under my bed. They’re my babies and they’ve seen some awesome games :)
