*****UC Berkeley 2021 Applicants Thread*****

my safety school is community college haha

Does anyone here know how twin admissions works? How come I keep getting the same decisions as my twin sister??? Is my application being judged independently from hers?

@JuicyMango , I think they probably just feel like it’s more humane not to split the decision if there’s enough overlap in qualifications to avoid it. My guess is that they evaluate independently, but if it’s borderline, then one twin could drag the other over the line… in either direction. (Speculating, really, but that’s my sense of it from what I’ve seen.) Then again, huge schools like the UC’s might not even have it on radar. Hard to say.

@JuicyMango I’m a twin and my sister and I haven’t received the same decision even once.

@JuicyMango I think each applicant is judged on his/her own merits and each application is independent. Are your stats similar? If so, perhaps that’s the reason.

My scores are better but her gpa and ec’s are better, so I think we keep bringing each other down with each decision :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you think my odds are for materials science and engineering?

Received a letter of rec in January
UC gpa: 4.12
ACT: 35C

Thx friends

Is there any possible way to get into Berkeley when I was rejected/waitlisted from all the UCs that I’ve gotten into other than UCR? I have a 4.7 weighted GPA, a 4.27 UC GPA, and a 1940 SAT (I know it’s not the best…but I mean my GPA is decent)
I’m losing hope with the UCs right now…I might have to accept my scholarship from UW and move away from home :confused:

@worriedsenior713 You’re instate? What’s your major?

@Banker1 I’m instate and my major is bio

1940 SAT is gonna be hard to get into Berkeley, but I would say there’s been a lot of people with lower scores that have gotten in. It’s all up to luck now.

Guys, did u receive an email recently notifying that the decisions will be available on March 30, 2017 at 5 pm Pacific ?

@valodik yes, a while back.

“Freshman decisions will be released approximately late afternoon / early evening (Pacific time) on March 30, 2017, via the MAP@Berkeley portal.”

Do we have any idea what time it will be at?

@pressieb we got back in feb…may be feb 11 that decisions ll cme on 30th. Nothing recently. In that email it was also written that u must hav heard that some of ur frnds got into but this is to inform u that ur app is under review…@roonilwazlib100

@pressieb Usually 5pm.

the portal update for early admits was around 5 pm PST, so it’ll probably be the same for regular admits

So, it’s PST or PDT? Quite confused when we are using daylight saving time.

PDT, sorry. 5 pm California time.

@worriedsenior713 Honestly, UW is an amazing school … and Seattle is one of the great cities. Congrats!
