*****UC Berkeley 2021 Applicants Thread*****

In the past, decisions always came out in the late afternoon on Thursday before the administrative holiday. This year the administrative holiday is 3/31.

what time do they come out tomorrow?

guys… they won’t come out tomorrow.

uc berkeley literally sent us an email saying they’d be out march 30th:

Dear [faultystart],

We realize you’ve been anxiously awaiting your decision from UC Berkeley and want to let you know that your application is currently under review.

While you may have heard that a few applicants received notification of their decision, the majority of applications, like yours, are still under review.

Freshman decisions will be released approximately late afternoon / early evening (Pacific time) on March 30, 2017, via the MAP@Berkeley portal.

Our records indicate that you have already established your MAP@Berkeley account. Your username is [my username].

While you’re waiting, we invite you to dive deeper into all that UC Berkeley has to offer!

i don’t know how you guys can doubt the date the office of admissions LITERALLY GAVE YOU

@ANormalSeniorGuy - will you post your stats?

@foreverasadcat
You still have a chance! I was one of the early admits to UC Berkeley with the same stats as you! Don’t count yourself out! I have no idea how I got in with such low test scores, but I got accepted into UCLA @foreverasadcat

FYI, three years ago my first D got accepted to both UCLA and CAL. She chose UCLA. This year my second D got likely letter from UCLA enginnering and got Accepted but she also received LOR from CAL.
Stats,
UW: 4.0
W: 4.63
New SAT: 1540

She did not submitted her Subject tests scores to UCs. She thought it was too low. They were low 700s

I only got the LOR request and receipt email. No likely email either. No other communication except the one in late Jan. Feeling nervous.

another early acceptance/regents candidate in engineering here–feel free to pm me for stats/discussion if you guys want!

What are you stats?

just curious but is business a hard major to get into? what about economics

How competitive/what is the acceptance rate for film/cinema studies major?

Everyone please @ me so I can see the questions. @dattitude undergraduate business is very hard to get into. The average accepted GPA is 3.7 at Berkeley and everyone who applies has leadership experience and has founded clubs. You cant be partying and get in unless you part at a business club. Econ is easier as all you have to do is pass the required classes and have a certain gpa (3.0 I think?), so many people apply for haas and if they dont get in they just do econ

@typicalmango you can read about it here: http://film-colleges.com/university-of-california-berkeley I dont know if its particularly competitive but I know its not that highly ranked so it should not be too hard

I got rejected to UCLA UCSD UCI UCD UCSB and accepted to UCM UCR UCSC. I applied CS to all UC’s and was wondering if i even have a chance of getting into UCB for L&S CS now… I have a 3.86 UC GPA with a huge upward trend, 1450 New SAT, 740 Japanese, 800 Math 2, 740 Chem, school orchestra all 4 years, varsity tennis captain, JV basketball, computer science clubs, Japanese school, did numerous volunteer programs pertaining to CS at UCB and have been interning there since last summer. Received music awards, Japanese school awards, AP scholar with honor. I also had very strong essays

@ANormalSeniorGuy or anyone that can chance me

edit: LOR requested

Undeclared Social Science major

4.333 W GPA
3.75 UW

1430 SAT (720 English 710 Math)

9 AP’s, so far i took 5 (Chem-5, US history-5, Euro-5, Spanish-5, Calc AB-4; pending: Calc BC, Physics, Literature, Gov) & the 1 UC-approved honors course: Honors Chemistry

Lots of EC in leadership positions & social work (bc of my major): Opinion editor of my school newspaper (very distinguished school newspaper), Red Cross pres & volunteer, cancer research organization volunteer, summer school teacher in an underprivileged neighborhood, Model UN, Youth Group leader, tutor, club president for one club, secretary for religious club, treasurer for cultural club.

Awards: AP scholar with distinction, Seal of Biliteracy, (school issued: Principal’s Honor Roll, Academic Letter & Pin, Icy Chain (top 9% of junior class)

Essays: well written but of course at this point in the college process i feel insecure about them

Accepted: UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Cal Poly SLO
Rejected: UCLA (lmao)
Pending: Berkeley, USC, Stanford, Cornell (not counting on Stanford or Cornell, applied in case of a miracle)

@roonilwazlib100 you have great stats, especially for your major choice. I think you have a good chance, especially with those other acceptances in mind. The only worry I have is the uw gpa is a little low and your sat score is right on the average, but i think your ECs are good enough (depends on reader) and hopefully your essays will carry you through. I would say you have a moderate to good chance, but remember I am not an admissions person

@ANormalSeniorGuy thank you for your input! it was great getting an unbiased second opinion.

@roonilwazlib100 yep, you’re welcome. Hopefully you hear good news! I’ll hear the same day as you for some ivies. Funny how UCB is now on Ivy day
