I have applied for a Masters in Industrial Engineering in November. Still haven’t heard back from UCB. Has anyone else who’s applied to the same program heard back?
forgot to mention Math 2: 750 and Chem: 800

Just when MasterCard ended its scholarship program. sigh

Had decent EC like science olympiad and other STEM stuff.
Really salt rn since a bunch of classmates got into UCLA and UCB with scores worse than mine. Wtf do colleges want these days.
QUICK QUESTION: Does it look good to take both the SAT and the ACT? Most of my classmates who got in to UCLA and UCB took both.
@beegbeeegboi
Your academic achievements seem too stellar to be passed up by both UCB and UCLA. This leads me to wonder if you actually received these scores. Could be a host of other factors but from what you have posted you already seem like a very strong applicant.
How many people are waitlisted at Berkeley every year???
Is there a groupme for accepted students?
Accepted Undeclared - Natural Resources!
Couldn’t believe it when I saw it, thought I was for sure going to UCSB.
In State Applicant
SAT: 1980 (taken mid 2015)
ACT: 31 (taken mid 2016)
UC GPA: 3.9
^ Junior year GPA was a 4.4. though, upward trend since start of sophomore year.
Essays were very very strong.
EC’s including founding a community service club.
4 years of work experience, 6 jobs total.
Reflection: It really seems like Berkeley does genuinely review applications holistically. My brother had worse stats than me but a very good story and great essays and was accepted. I think my essays had to be the reason I got in. I did pretty well academically but for Berkeley it was probably a bit below average.
Super excited and couldn’t be happier!
Accepted regents
ACT: 34
UC GPA: 4.6
EC: 10 years of double bass
Major: Music and Econ/Pre-Haas (interviewer allowed me a loophole to put down both)
Race/other: White, middle class
Other colleges: Rejected from all Ivys, Duke, Vanderbilt, Emory, JHU, Northwestern, Emory, and more
Looking at this thread and judging my own experience Cal is decently holistic. I am thrilled to be accepted to the class of 2021 as a regent scholar with an intended history major. While my stats were strong, 2220 old SAT and 4.18 capped UC GPA, I have no illusions that they are extraordinary. I am beyond thankful to the admissions department for looking beyond pure numbers and considering essays and ECs (at least in my case). Major congrats to everyone who got good news today! For those who didn’t get the results they wanted, I am sure other institutions will be lucky to have you and that you will find somewhere to thrive.
Rejected L&S.
4.3 UC capped GPA, 1510 SAT, and I’m in-state. Yet somehow I get into Cornell, so not sure how I get rejected by Berkeley. Oh well, weird shit happens. Looks like I won’t be staying close to home after all.

So happy I got accepted after all the devastating Ivy rejections…!!!
@unknowngirl If you live in CA, you should definitely check out TAG program or something similar! I have so many friends who’ve transferred into Berkeley/LA/SD through a community college.
@Tigerdad17 If your D wants to study business, choose UCB, if engineering, choose Georgia Tech
@Tigerdad17 Do this exercise right now. Write a check for 180k for Cal. Write another check out for the same amount to your daughter. Which one do you feel like ripping up. There’s your answer.
Imo free is almost always better. Ga tech is a great school. Buy your daughter a house.
I wanna do investment banking and I have been admitted to UMichigan Ross and Berkeley (Econ major). I intend to apply for Haas sophomore year. However, I don’t know what’s better.
I have no idea how, but I was accepted as an out of state, white kid to L&S with a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 27 on the ACT. I was rejected from UCLA.
