@collgebound16 They review an applicant as a whole, not emphasizing weight on any one thing. For example, rather than accepting the highest SAT/ACT/GPAs with some kind of formula, they admit students based on other factors taking consideration into the context of their environment.
Any information on the college of environmental design? Where is there so little information available regarding their admissions?
@envieng82020 Yeah there isn’t much. It’s one of the less popular colleges to apply too. If you go to their website you will see they use the General UCB admission protocol. I can tell you that it’s much easier to get into than COE or COC.
What are some of the average admitted student stats? I can’t seem to find much info; wondering if this means it is typically less applicants and less competitive than say LOS?
@envieng82020 The school is primarily a graduate school so a lot of stats aren’t offered. I did find it admits by school not major. So I doubt it’s any harder than the 17% or so that is the UCB average. But we all applied so no use worrying about a statistic when our fate is not in our hands. Have fun senior year!
@daniel04 The Berkeley letter of recs has become the new Area 51 conspiracy lol. Anyways there are two prevailing theories so far: 1. It’s sent to a randomized 20% of the applicants. That would explain why people with stats across the board are getting letters. 2. The computer program or admissions counselors skimmed and apps that caught their eye (high scores, great ec, some hook) they asked for a letter. This makes sense in that they are asking mostly higher stat people with maybe the lower stat apps having some specialist ec. It also fits the bill that why ask for a letter from a student that has a low admit chance anyway? Despite the speculation there isn’t a clear answer. Let’s just roll with it! Good luck!
@envieng82020 For 2014, the College of Environmental Design accepted 273/1219 (22.4%).

@itsmyusername do you have the stats for the other colleges. Preferably L&S
do they send the invite to apply to the leadership merit scholarship to everyone?
I was about to ask the same thing @dango98 but I’m assuming they probably do send it to everyone because it’s still early in the reviewing process.
@itsmyusername do you have the stats for EECS?
I just received an email from the Cal Alumni Association to apply for the Leadership Award. Does this mean/indicate anything in terms of admission?
@graceann @waddups

Avg ACT applied: 30, Avg ACT admitted: 33
@infiniteCircle it doesn’t seem like it means anything, based on last year’s thread and the message they gave at the end of the invitation (i got one too).
I got the leadership invite from Cal Alumni Association. I doubt it means anything, probably has something to do with checking the scholarship box on the UC application site.
@treker205 Oh I neglected to read that section. Yeah I guess it doesn’t indicate anything. Damn I was hoping for a glimpse of good news.
@itsmyusername For L&S do you have the OOS info? Sorry for bothering you with questions, should have stated I’m OOS.
I got Alumni Leadership invite also. I think a large number of applicants get the invite, vs. UCLA’s Alumni Scholarship invite (which I believe has something to do with being a top 5% applicant).
I believe all UCB applicants received Cal Alumni Leadership award invite.
Yea I received it too!
