UC Berkeley Decision

a girl told me that she had been accpeted to cal but didn’t think she had a chance so she didn’t check when admissions came out and they called her to tell her she was accepted. i was a little skeptical about that whole thing bc i didn’t think cal, of all places, would go out of their way to tell someone they got in but i guess its true

yes, we will be making calls starting this Sunday & will be calling you (accepted transfer students) on Sunday-Wednesday to welcome you and try to talk you into choosing Cal over other schools (UCLA…hint, hint) I signed up for Sunday. We are also having a transfer resource fair on Saturday May 9th at Wheeler Hall…hope I see some of you there =)

what if you guys arent able to get ahold of the person?? say their number changed…

luvtolearn, if you call me, i’ll actually pick up (i usually don’t). :)

luv, if you call me, expect me to debate with you. No point in trying to persuade me… i’m a 80% lean to UCLA, 20% to CAL. GO BRUINS!!!

Seriously? Berkeley calls?

That’s a good question, not sure about that. The official acceptance letters are also mailed out so either way (you check online or wait for the hard copy) you’ll still know you were accepted. The calls are just going out to welcome all of you and to encourage you to enroll here. Actually, here is a copy of the message that was sent to me:

I know that we all might be busy with course work, getting paid and of course finals, but I wanted to extend the invitation to you to come out and help encourage newly admitted transfer students to come to UC Berkeley, by phone banking and/or assisting with the resource fair.

Each year the Advanced Standing Yield Committee works to ensure that the majority of transfer students whom are admitted to UC Berkeley decide to enroll. In order to achieve this goal, we have organized events that incorporate many aspects of campus life.

We will call newly admitted students on May 3rd,4th,5th & 6th, as well as holding the annual “Transfer Student Resource Fair” on May 9th. Currently our greatest need is on Monday May 4th and Tuesday May 5th, but all the help we can get would be appreciated.

Below are the details for these Events. Attached is a Flyer.

chibi…lol… i can be quite persuasive =)

can you get an anthro professor to call me? i’m not sure about berkeley’s anthropology dept vs. my interests. :P

This post was from a few days ago, but I just went to the Starry Plough on Berkeley Poetry Slam night.

They didn’t card me. I’m 21, but I look 16.

huh, interesting gogmen. they card me when i go there. how was the slam?

Why do you want to go to Stanford? Would you rather buy your diploma or earn your diploma?

just yanking your chain.

It was AWESOME!!! and the plough apparently doesn’t card on the slam night. I seriously look like I’m 16. Not gonna lie. It comes from being asian, I guess. and is it the 30th yet? I’m going crazy here

who wants to go to stanford (course, i would if it got in).

fun fun about the slam! i used to go to their open mic, but never got there early enough to play.

hey ilivefree… “Take off that RED shirt!..take off that RED shirt!” … lol…just giving you a bad time…=P

yeah, i know, i know. i am a HUGE bear fan, was the 1st bball for women’s basketball (when i was like 8).

one time my parents weren’t paying attention and they took me to a football game in a red sweatshirt. i was like 7 and the alumni section STILL gave me that chant!

you know it, you tell the story, you tell the whole damn world this is BEAR territory… :)

I’m sure you enjoyed all the communist imagery there. haha.

It must be a hard decision for you. My family also has a lot of Berkeley history. All three of my uncles went there, but my father did not. However, none of my cousins have gone there, and there’s only one younger than me who is going to apply to Berkeley, so this generation is running out of people!

Good luck with getting in!

and good luck with Stanford too.

lol, lol…rofl… my husband brought my son to the Cal vs. UW game this last season…the same thing happened to him…he was really mad at him for that…lol…seriously he should have known better too cuz he is also a Cal student…I think he did that on purpose to get a good laugh

ha ha, yeah, parents seem to forget that little detail sometimes. like doh, my kid’s wearing red.

and thanks gogmen, it is a touch choice. my stepdad said i didn’t have a chance in hell of getting into cal, so i wouldn’t mind stuffing my accp. letter down his gullet if i get in. and lots of my family went to cal too, so i hear you. my g-pa went to cal then stanford for his mba.

bears/furd/bears/furd/bears/furd (insert weighing hand symbols).

anyway, good luck to you too. i’m SO JAZZED. till tomorrow, good fortune to ALL!!!
