UC Berkeley First Year Pathways: Traditional vs. Global Edge vs. FPF?

I’m leaning towards the global edge, is this a bad idea for first years?

Depends on your intended major and whether the courses in Global Edge are ones that you will take anyway.

http://globaledge.berkeley.edu/locations/london indicates that the Global Edge in London program includes the following courses:

College Writing R4A, R4B
Philosophy 2
elective from one of five courses

Note that College Writing R4A, R4B are reading and composition courses; if you have a 4 on AP English, you would not otherwise have to take the “A” course (but Global Edge London requires you to take it anyway); if you have a 5 on AP English literature, you would not otherwise have to take the “B” course (but Global Edge London requires you to take it anyway).

Both Global Edge and Fall Program for Freshmen are probably intended to reduce the usual unbalanced enrollment in regular UCB courses, since there are more students enrolled in the fall than the spring.

Your other threads suggest that you may be an intended biology major. Typical first year biology major courses like Chemistry 1A, Biology 1B, Math 10A are not available in Global Edge or Fall Program for Freshmen.
