has there always been a second wave in prior years?
This just straight up sucks. Personally, I’ve been waitlisted at both UCLA (I probably have no chance now since so many acceptances have been made, and I didn’t get one) and Cal. I’m a first year and I go to another UC and I really don’t like it there. I’ve been waiting for decisions for a few months and I’m still waiting. Honestly my only change is Berkeley right now and realistically, I don’t see it getting better for me.
@ucberkeley2019 I was just reading last year’s thread and they didn’t have a 2nd wave.
I was reading the thread from 2016, and it seems they were notified on June 20th that the transfer waitlist had closed. It would seem logical that if there wasn’t a 2nd wave, and if the 1st wave had already been notified, UC Berkeley would simply close the waitlist. It’s possible that they’ll still wait till July 1st, or they’re still waiting for decisions from the 1st wave, but if not, then everyone here still has a chance.
Chill guys if you haven’t personally been notified or know a single person taken off the waitlist for berkeley then there’s still hope. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Life will still go on
Hi everyone. Fellow transfer Bear here. Just some information that may be helpful or hopefully will lift some uncertainty off everyone’s shoulders.
UC Berkeley’s 2019 counselor guide for transfers page indicates that waitlist notifications will be “received on or before” July 1, whether space is available.
This makes me think back at this year’s round of regular admission releases and the statement of decisions releasing “on or before” April 19, so there’s a possibility, although not the best way to have it, that decisions may be released on July 1st.
Hope this helps.
@student298 umm there were 3 waves last year I believe. The 1st one was 7th, 2nd one was 20th, and the last one was at the end of the month
I literally have no hope calling the admission (feel like their answers are just based on the weather that day). If it’s raining, we get an answer. If it’s sunny, we get another one. Only one certain thing is that the weather can never be stable -.-
And at this rate, it seems like the chance of getting one wave is high because assuming that they release the result tomorrow (18th), it will take 7 days to confirm all of the students who accept the offer (so 25th) and as fast as they can, release the 2nd one at 26th? (well Idk maybe)
And if there is only one wave, then we will have 2 situations which is that the pool size is so small comparing to the available spaces so every waitlisted student has a high chance of getting off the list; or oppositely, the available spaces this year are super small so only a few waitlisted students will be grouped into one wave.
I don’t know guys…just my guess so far T.T
I agree @Justabanana . I just don’t believe them when they say that they released some decisions already. I also don’t understand how they can be so clueless about their own department lol.
Well…I mentioned earlier that there wasn’t any wave yet cause if there was a wave, then why a lot of staffs at the admission were unsure or couldn’t tell whether the result would be rolling or not. It just doesn’t make any sense and kinda pissed me off because so far, their answers are contradicting with each other. I just hope that if they don’t want to give us any information before July 1st, then please at least do not give inaccurate answers to confuse students more because that is very irresponsible
Hello everybody. Nothing written in this discussion thread from page 1 onwards changes the reality that as of this moment, no decisions have been released yet. Few more days. God bless and good luck to all!
Ok - I looked through the last couple of years on cc. I think in 2017 a wave was on the 20th. That date seems to have had some activity in other years as well. My guess is that there will be a wave on the 20th, and after that chances are quite low for subsequent admissions. I also think it’s futile to call admissions. Peoples’ responses in other years are identical to ours. I imagine they are instructed to not give any information.
Also - any lurkers - if you have been offered admission, please post! Let’s hold tight for a few more days!
Today is the day ??
I should append my last post. In 2017 at least, there was a wave on the 27th as well as the 20th.
It was also on a tuesday. Same as freshman release this year
wait, what today is the day??
Probably not. My guess is still the 20th
But maybe on the 20th
Hopefully today…
anything?
