UC Berkeley vs Fordham University

Hi Everyone,

I am having a hard time choosing where to go to college and I wanted to see what other people have to say. I was admitted to 6 schools (I put scholarship money in parenthesis): ASU Barrett ($16k/yr), Boston College, Boston University ($20k/yr), UC Berkeley, Fordham University ($56k/yr), and Northeastern University ($30k/yr). I know for sure I want to do Finance but I’m not exactly sure in what capacity (ie. Investment Banking vs Private Equity). BU put me in Kilachand Honors and Northeastern put me in their honors college as well. The most interesting one to me is that I was admitted to the Global Business Honors Program at Fordham. They are expecting a size of 25 students and in the program they would pay for my travel to London and Asia. Also, I would take honors classes with the other honors kids. BTW, Fordham is in New York which is great for Finance.

So, what do you think? UC Berkeley is a great name but there’s always a chance I don’t get into Haas. Fordham is in New York, I have a full tuition scholarship, and I would be in the honors program. Also, I’m open to all the other schools besides ASU.

I guess I should also mention the things I value in a college:
-Being surrounded by smart kids
-Internship opportunities
-Leadership opportunities (like in clubs)

in a sense, the scholarship money doesn’t matter. How much are you paying out of pocket for each would be the more valid comparison.

ASU=$10,500-$16,000= -$5,500
Boston College= $54,600
Boston University=$54,720-$20,000= $34,720
UC Berkeley=$14,000+$29,000= $43,000
Fordham= $56,000-$56,000= $0
Northeastern= $51,000-$30,000=$21,000

If you’re asking if I got anything from FAFSA I did not. Also I assume room and board would be pretty similar for most of them so probably an additional $18k.

Haas not guaranteed for Berkeley? I’m a Cal fan ( I like Fordham too!) but in this case I don’t think I’d hesitate with zero tuition and Fordham honors, NY internships and lots of money to save for grad school.

Fordham. Yes. For all the reasons you mention and not guaranteed UCB finance.

Plus the global business honors program sounds outstanding.

Congrats on the bu neu and Carroll admissions too! .

BC finance is my favorite but the cost makes no sense with your other options. When all of the schools are so fantastic.

You must be a great student and keep up the good work.
