How impacted are the Computer majors at UC Davis? Anybody know? I’m kind of worried at this point.
@wutduhchris I’m with you man! I’m so worried, seeing all these people get accepted and we computer majors are still here in the dust!
I’m graduating in 5 days and I feel like I’m the only one still waiting on Davis this is beyond frustrating
@Jxssical you’re not the only one. My graduation is on Wednesday and I still don’t know where I’m going to go. /:
It does not seem UC Davis has the best interests of their prospective students in mind when it plays this Waitlist waiting game. Extremely stressful for these high school students and their families. If it benefits anyone it’s the school and its staff - not those UCD exists to educate. Hopefully they will wise up and change their process next year. At least each of you who still in college limbo is not alone. And maybe you need to ask yourselves: Do I really want to attend a school that treats students this way?
@Delta6: It is just not UC Davis that strings along prospective students on the waitlist. It is pretty much all the UC campuses if you follow the waitlist threads on CC. That is the nature of the waitlist. As students are accepted off one waitlist, they will change their SIR from one school to another and this will open spots. My attitude is that you can accept waitlist, but move on, SIR to another school and embrace the opportunities there and do not count on getting off the waitlist. If you do then it is icing on the cake.
You’re right about this being a practice of most UC’s. Just seems it could be handled differently - maybe the UC could at least communicate where they are in the waitlist process so stressed students and families are not kept in the dark for weeks (months?). Plus getting off the wait list in the 11th hour means a mad scramble to complete all the prep work for hitting the campus in the fall. And there is the factor that if you have been accepted at an out of state school as a safety measure you commit then spend a lot of time and money getting ready to attend that school just in case the UC doesn’t come through. If you get a UC acceptance and all that out of state effort is wasted. Something needs to change…not sure what but there has to be a better system.
At this point, all I’m hoping for is that we all get notified BEFORE June. I don’t want to have to go through the torture that last year’s class went through where they waited until even the end of June to see if they got accepted (I’m talking about freshman here, not transfers)
Does UC Davis notify freshmen during the weekends on if they were accepted or not?
