<p>oh man. i got rejected for UCSB but in at Davis. THANK GOD. it was weird though, because i had already signed into my account to set it up, and it was midnight so i, half asleep, just clicked refresh and the page totally changed so i think.. why did it go back to the homepage? i have to sign in again?!?! ugh. why does the homepage say congratulations? thats kinda mean, some people might not get in....</p>

<p>UCSB's admit rates are lower than Davis. Plus, there was a story that said that applications for Davis dropped 4% this year (they went up 1.9% for UCSB)</p>
<p>ucsb ISNT harder/better which is why i was thrown into a funk. in any case, my stats:</p>
<p>1410/750/740/720, 3.5UC GPA (that killed me, probably)
hella ec's (that are good, too, with lots of leadership) and all that jazz.</p>
<p>the essay was..solid. intense, i guess, but it didnt convey any hardships because i dont like talking about that stuff and i like to keep my apps positive.</p>
<p>my friend got in wtih a 3.18 gpa =) im kinda proud of her slacker ways</p>

Actually, Davis is slightly more selective than UCSB according to previous years' statistics and, like you said, is ranked higher in US News(though US News is not meant to measure selectivity, but rather how "good" the college is, so take that how you like). However, since they are almost the same in selectivity, but nonetheless use a different method of reviewing applicants, there are bound to be applicants who are rejected from one and accepted to another with somewhat loose trends.</p>
<p>wondrlst- that's rediculous. so they can accept ppl w/ 3.5's who have ****ty sat scores but they cant accept 3.5s with good scores because somehow it means that you're more of a slacker than them? i dont like uc admission policy. grr.</p>

<p>I applied to UCD but I haven't gotten any reply yet. They haven't said if I was accepted or rejected, but the web site page changed because now it doesn't show the SAT scores.</p>
<p>All it says is: "The Undergraduate Admissions staff is reviewing your application. Please be patient and permit us time to complete a thorough evaluation. We will notify you by e-mail and/or postal mail when a decision has been made. You may also continue to check for a decision at this Web site."</p>
<p>The wait is becoming painful, and I don't really know what to do at this point.</p>

Asn an engineer i know how hard it is to get in to UCD especially since UCD has an insainly compacted Engineering department! You guys are erally goign to enjoy the UCD experience if you decide that this is the right place for you! Congratz again on your acceptances!</p>
