Rejected (probably, tho not official): Cal Poly SLO
Overall I’m super excited and happy to be accepted!! UC Davis is my second choice school (1st is UCSB) and so far I’ve only been accepted to safeties/schools I don’t really want to go to. So it’s just a huge weight off my shoulders that I got in. I’m still praying that I get into UCSB on the 20th, but I won’t be that disappointed if I don’t I’d love to go to UC Davis too!!
@collegeparent67 Sounds similar to my son’s stats. Seems like UCD is taking the approach - 'let this kids with high stats and potentially multiple acceptances really tell us why we should accept them". I don’t blame them if they too that approach - perhaps that approach opens doors for other kids who would otherwise be waitlisted or rejected.
I am sweating waiting to hear from other schools, but also happy DS is not a bit worried

Decent essays
Not in IB Diploma, but taking all IB classes (common to do in my school)
@collegehappens18 If that’s what they’re doing, then it’s wrong. Sure, maybe a lot of high-stat students will end up going elsewhere, but that’s the student’s decision. The whole point of “safety” schools is that you have a high chance of getting in, but if they’re waitlisting students BECAUSE they know they’re probably a safety for that student, that’s just wrong.

Socal resident
Major: Animal biology
UC GPA: 3.54 SAT: 1120
Lots of ecs, leadership positions, good essays
Not surprised but congrats to everyone who made it’
Listen to Gumbymom, she knows her stuff. Last year, going through this process, when the golden retriever icon appeared we read her posts immediately and they were helpful.
You all worked very hard. Congratulations to everyone who got in to UC Davis! Handshakes to everyone who did not get in too. Another door or window will open for you somewhere soon. If you were waitlisted, you have a glimmer of hope. Several UCs ask you to click the box to get on their waitlist. I believe Davis still requires you to write a 200 word essay as well. Take this assignment seriously. It’s basically another college essay. Tell them why you are passionate about Davis and the major you are waitlisted for, and convince them that you will contribute in a positive way to the campus and to the community. If you can’t bring yourself to write this essay, it’s probably not the right school for you. No assurances you’ll get off the waitlist, but it could happen.
For newly admitted students, plan to attend Decision Day in April! It’s a great way to get acquainted with the campus, community, academics, housing, etc. Make hotel reservations ASAP if needed. Also, attend Picnic Day in April!
@nerdgirl97 I am not sure that’s what they are doing. I am guessing. UCD is also known to have admitted a higher rate of International Students (amongst all UCs):
