UC Davis or U Chicago or UC Berkley

Has your son read up on the core and the campus culture of U chicago? Both are things that he probably should take into account when it comes to choosing between Berkeley and Chicago. They’re both very academically challenging schools, but the latter is pretty famous for its academic culture.

@Fidowoman‌ there are a few differences between Berkeley and Davis. Berkeley is a higher ranked school in just about every aspect. Not looking down on Davis, but Berkeley is a better school (usnews). Additionally Berkeley has a better “name” among academics which could be helpful in terms of grad school (time higher education poll).
You are right that location is important, but Berkeley is, on paper, the better school -especially for economics.

He visited both schools this week. He decided on Berkley, he felt more in tune or better with the system, the campus, the vibe, etc. I let him choose freely, and looks like he chose Berkley. I’m sure there is not a “wrong” choice either way. But I’m glad that he looked convinced.
