chunkphat,

When I finshed last year I had a 3.92 at my CC in classes that would transfer. I was accepted to all of the UC's (except UCSC since I did not apply) as well as Tulane. Also I had finshed 63 units at my CC prior to transfering.

CardinalFocused, which thread?

Oh nvm allena, I thought I was going to miss the payment deadline and didn't know where to pay for it but CC saved me in time...

Speaking of obsessing about getting into the UCs, last years CCC to UC transfer class had a thread with a whopping eighty-two pages. It can be found in the following url for reference (It has alota useful info):

When it comes down to it, I hope this transfer batch can exceed the high reply count precedent set by last years transfer class. I have faith that we will post more worried questions, senseless wonderings, and frantic thoughts then the UC transfer class before us. =]

haha cool thread. I had some posts there. Can't believe how fast time went by. Althought we still have about 2 month left for SB and SD. not to mention the so coveted UCLA>

I had to have over 100 posts in that one thread.

UCLA and UCB(109 days to go)...

lol, i think thats too long to keep a count of it's close to 1/3 of a year.

30 days is more appropriate.

Althought continue it.

haha, fur sure...and besides, I want my post count to go up so I can garner the full respect and honor of a CC senior member...ha

man that's one big thread cardinalfocused posted. i've seen it before, but i didn't realize it was 82 pages!!!!! this should become a CC tradition

seriously calgirl21...We should make this thread the 82 pager...

It would give me great honor to host a thread rooted in the cc tradition...

Reading into that old threat really makes me concerned. I've never seen such a cluster of horrible, misleading generalizations and statements with a complete disregard for facts.

I really, really hope that we can have a higher standard as we get closer to the release of decisions...

That means posting more than a GPA and a major, and that means not trusting possibly misleading info about "perfect 4.0s" being rejected.

I found a great example where someone put "3.73, but later found out it was a 3.0." I also found numerous inconsistancies--individuals who had reported a fluctuating GPA.

Let's hold ourselves to a quality standard this time around.

Good job pointing out those misleading ideas Gabe, though I'll have to admit that I have drawn conclusions from purely anecdotal (sp?) evidence myself.

This year's CC transfer class can set the bar this year in terms of separating what is fact from what is just hearsay. I believe with all the chill people I've met here applying to the UCs, we have the power to do just that. As a true CCer would say, we can make CC history...ha

Out of curiosity, what information do you think we should put in this thread other than the standard major/gpa listings?

We should put more info, depending on the particular situation. There is no point to having any kind of thread with only major and GPA. That information alone offers nothing in even getting a perspective of applicants who post on CC.

Gabew42, some of the problems that you saw with fluctuating GPA's happened for a reason. My GPA actually does take a jump somewhere in that thread because I discovered a class I got a B in did not actually count towards to UC GPA. When that came off my GPA actually took a nice jump up. Also remember that that thread covered a few grading periods, so some of the change in GPA just came from actually having their GPA's change. However a 3.7 to a 3.0 is a very drastic change, isn't it!

that was your 1000th post allena.

gabe you said this:

"that means not trusting possibly misleading info about "perfect 4.0s" being rejected."

Is that to say that you do not believe 4.0 students get rejected or that people lie about having a 4.0? I've asked this question before (probably with a response from you) and I find it absurd to think that a student with a 4.0 could be rejected from any UC as long as requirements were met. So what you're trying to say is.....it would be helpful if people posted IGETC certified: yes/no? major prep complete: yes/no? I guess I just didn't understand what you meant there.

Kevintech. How much is your GPA and also what's your major. Give me that and I'l' give you 99% estimate of your chances to get accepted.

indieboy created a later thread after acceptances started rolling in that contained information about major, gpa, prereqs, ec, work, and just about everything.

Anyone wanna go search for it?

here is the link to indie-boy

I like how that thread is formatted all neat, though it certainly does not have as many responses as the other thread. Perhaps it attracts only the UCers that got accepted to the top UCs (Cal and UCLA). We gotta do that this year for sure though....haha
