***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

All these people getting into uci I still haven’t gotten anything. So much anxiety :frowning:

“Did UCI?”
“Did I see what?”

@khushib I feel much better now. Thanks and wish you best of luck too

@Suzimika18 the first day they went out, yesterday I think it was

@KimPossible1999 I think you have a very strong chance of getting in. Good SAT and good GPA. Also helps that you’re a woman in computer science which is heavily dominated by men

anyone else with a data science major have their portals updated? :expressionless: i’ve only seen two or three people who were accepted

When you get basically rejected from UC’s but offered the Transfer plan at USC lmao

@MisterEko My fingers are crossed. It’s just that I’ve been doubting everything since I’ve been getting a handful of rejections from ucla, ucd, ucsd, ucsb, cal poly, when I thought I had a good chance for Davis or San Diego. I only got into Santa Cruz. I just don’t understand this UC system smh

@KimPossible1999 Huh. I would’ve thought you had a good shot at SD and Davis too. Bummer. You have great stats, ECs, and everything. You should have a good chance, but idk CS has been pretty competitive as of late it seems.

Anyone got in for Business Econ?? What were your stats?

@KimPossible1999 Scratch that. Like legit your record sounds phenomenal. If your GPA was slightly higher, I would think you even had a decent shot at ivy leagues… I don’t know what the UCs are seeing that we’re not.

@janden I got in with bus econ
SAT:1370
unweighted: 3.8
Weighted: 4.2
10 AP Courses in total
Lots of extracurricular and leadership positions

any humanities majors? at all?? i’m freaking out

don’t want to depress anyone here but this whole college process has been one very big frustrating experience. My kid has character flaws like all of us, but he got himself into position where he should have been able to get into a top-tier school, even as a Computer Science major. Instead he’s taken the L at UCLA, USC and Northwestern and gotten weightlisted at UCSD and Northeastern. Did get accepted to Davis ( L&S) and UCSB (Engineering). Quite honestly he hadn’t even researched anything on Davis or UCSB (or UCI). Besides UCI (haven’t gotten a result back yet. Yep he waited until the last hour to hit the submit button on his app so maybe that’s why the wait.), he’s got Vanderbilt, Carnegie-Mellon, Stanford and UCB left and his chances basically are 0% on those schools I would think based on those other results.

3.75 UW, 4.05 UC GPA, 4.3 weighted. he’s taken 10 community classes/dual enrollment classes, all As. 10 AP classes (Bio,APUSH , Eng 11, Chem, US Gov, Eng 12, Physics C, Calc BC, microEcon, Computer Science. He has never taken a lower level class in his 4 years ie with the except of PE or electives, all his classes have been Honors or AP. He had a bad first semester as a sophomore, 3 Bs and a C, mainly because his mother passed away during that time. Pretty much all As since, other than his math classes. He does go to a very competitive zero school spirit public HS where many of the smart kids have parents who are high tech executives (not me), that had over 50 National Merit semifinalists, and he’s probably barely in the top 10% ranking in his class.

1540 SAT (740 Eng 800 Math), 3 tries - 1500, 1520, 1540.
35 ACT, 2 tries, 33, then 35.
800 Math II, 780 Chem subject tests

Internship as a Java/Python programmer at a small online gaming company last year. Too bad the company disbanded 7 months ago.
Not a great variety of ECs or volunteer work, FBLA treasurer/webmaster and Chess Club president. United States candidate master in chess, but he hasn’t played in 4 years and never got his Master title even though he was only a few points away since he was in junior high. Represented the US at the World Youth Chess Olympics in Europe, but that was in elementary school and junior high, so unfortunately he wasn’t able to list that on his applications. He does teach/volunteer at a chess club and has private students and makes good money at it (about the same as say what a private piano teacher would charge).
He was in the marching band for his first 2 years but because of his internship and chess teaching didn’t do it his last 2 years. Played the trombone in marching band and trumpet for symphonic band.

He volunteers installing solar panels as well but not on a regular basis.

The essays seemed good to me, but what do I know?

I really feel like he should just finish out his remaining courses at his community college and reapply again. I gotta think it’s the GPA and the essays that is denying him. I highly regret not pushing him to submit to any schools for Early Decision. His HS has given him zero direction but then again I don’t think he’s been very enthusiastic about the whole process to begin with. He tried to appeal to the vice principal on getting a B in one of his classes (for very legitimate reasons which I won’t get into) but she had the nerve to ask him, in front of me no less, “why is the A so important to you?”.

UCI decisions are out!

I think Berkeley’s financial aid office may have just accidentally sent out emails to admitted students. Got one congratulating me on my admission and to check my financial aid package. No change in portal though.

@Mitato yup that happened lol

@mitato and @rohael That’s gr8 for y’all. Don’t have to worry about spending another week anxiously waiting.

It’s too good to be true tbh

I got in

@Rohael Financial aid confirmation is no joke…
