UC IRVINE FALL 2020 TRANSFER WAITLIST THREAD

@colecobutterkisses Some business majors were admitted off the waitlist really early but that’s pretty much it :-/

I really just want UCI to let us know before summer session starts because I would like to take summer classes this year but at this rate… we may not hear back till july lol

Hi guys, I was accepted to UCI in April for philosophy which was my second choice major. I SIRed but got off the UCLA waitlist a few days ago and just declined my admission tonight to UCI. Not sure if any of you are Philosophy majors but if so you will likely get my spot:)

@loverofstitch @transferba so down to meet up and celebrate!! eventually & safely though bc COVID hahaha

ahh congrats, good luck at UCLA!!!

No news today :frowning:

Anyways, why do you guys want to attend UCI?
My main reason is because I’m trying to escape my current UC (UCR). Something extremely unfortunate happened to me there and well… being on campus is heavy reminder of it.
2. UCI has been my dream school ever since high school.
3. I was a neuroscience major at UCR but would like to pursue public health at UCI. Also, UCR doesn’t offer public health.
4. Neuro at UCR sucks because my major is extremely full. I’ve been trying to get into the Introductory Neuro class for the last 2 quarters :-/ and my academic advisor literally told me that I should just switch into bio so I have more options for classes.

I just want an excuse to live in SoCal( Im from NorCal). Also the food in irvine is great. Computer Science at that school is also really good

@loverofstitch trying to transfer to UCI to be closer to take care of my mom who was diagnosed with cancer.

@ChipsSs Hey! I’m also from norcal! lol Even though I attended UCR the past two years, I constantly visited UCI and OC bc of the food!!!

@howzitbrah I truly hope you get in! Attending UCI would definitely help with your family situation. I hope your mom fights this! <3

The reasons why I want to go to UCI is because it has a fantastic Computer Science program. UCI is very unique because it’s the only UC with it’s own school of Computer Science, rather than CS being in a school of engineering or science. I think this is really cool because more CS classes are offered that really interests me. Also, since CS isn’t in a school of engineering, you don’t have to take years of crazy engineering physics classes like other universities require for CS, which I really appreciate (and only 2 years of Calculus). UCI also lets you specialize in a cetain area of CS which is super cool. I feel like UCI is meant for CS majors. Honestly if had the choice, I would choose to go to UCI or no university at all, but I really want/need to get a degree lol

^^ I’m sorry if you’re not a CS major and nothing I said above made any sense/mattered lmao

@loverofstitch Hey I’m so sorry about your experiences and situation at UCR. I’m really glad that you’re able to transfer out of there soon!

@loverofstitch I’m sorry about whatever happened at UCR. I hope that you get accepted at uci! you deserve a better experience and don’t have to be reminded constantly of what happened at ucr.

  1. I want to transfer to uci because ever since the 8th grade it's been my dream school lol 2. I'm a sociology major but also want to double major in their criminology law & society program (which other schools do not offer and heard that it is super good) 3. some of my mentors attended uci and have great things to say about their experience there and I have connected with various law professors which I truly admire! 4. I also hope to get into uci law (so if I don't get off the waitlist I know that ill get a second chance at their law school :((
  2. its in the middle of everything (LA and SD) AND since I am from SD, its not far from home either and it also gives me that "home" feeling LOL plus good food and boba and beach!!!

@icantCsharp I’m not a CS major but my significant other who attends UCI, is! UCI’s school of ICS is “epic” according to my SO.

I really appreciate everyone’s replies! To be honest, it feels good to have people going through this process with me. When I first applied to transfer out, I really thought I had no chance especially since I’m an UC intercampus transfer. I wrote my PIQs on the night it was due because I was dealing with my situation during the entirety of fall quarter so I didn’t really have time to work on my application. But I poured my heart and soul into those PIQs! I only applied to UCD and UCI with the hopes of attending UCI this upcoming fall. To my surprise, I was waitlisted to both schools. At the time, I was really excited because I still had a chance of getting in! But man… this wait, it feels like an eternity. I hope in the end we all receive good news!

Hello everyone! I used the chat feature on the UCI admissions page and talked to an admissions rep. I asked when will waitlisted transfers hear back and he said that it’s on a rolling basis, however, “at this point, we are finalizing last minute decisions as to whether or not we will admit students off of the waitlist”. After reading this, I lost all hope to be honest. This was the most honest answer I’ve ever gotten from a rep using the chat feature. I’m just really shocked that the only students who were admitted off the waitlisted so far are business majors. I really hope there is at least another wave and that the people who saw a change in their financial aid portal get some good news.

For the financial document requests, did anyone’s due date change to 7/3?

@pleaseacceptme8 yes I submitted almost all the documents a few days ago. I have 1 document that is still under review, and that one has been changed to 07/03

“I have yet to hear if we are admitted additional transfer students off of the waitlist. Nevertheless, these decisions are released on a rolling basis. So unfortunately, I do not have a specific date as to when all of the waitlist decisions will be released (if they even are released.)”
This is what I heard from UCI admission.

A transfer student on reddit got in through appeal 2 days ago. Why haven’t we heard anything back :-/

for those who were not requested financial docs, for fafsa did you guys use the IRS tool?
