Varies. There were actually rejections a couple days ago from what I read here and then today just happened to be the waitlist day. Indeed there may be more rejections tomorrow or for the rest of March, but acceptances are doubtful. This just shows that they sent out their estimated amount of candidates and now just wait to see who actually wants to go and who doesn’t. It is so unpredictable this year so the waitlists for UCR and many other colleges are going to be incredibly long and just a bunch of random things completely messing with the ultimate decisions. We can just wait but yeah that is what I think.
I checked portal and the waitlist message was their.
after reading this, I checked my portal, and I was waitlisted. I also thought ucr was a safety for me
Still no decision but I thought it would be a safety for me but looks like I’ll get rejected
Don’t lose hope yet, it’s still rolling. I personally got waitlisted yesterday, but to those with no decision, no decision=no decision. There’s still a chance you can get accepted.
Can’t believe that I waitlisted for this one! I was almost certain that this would be a safety option for me. Tons of ECs, advanced level music, several languages (AP and SAT II with listening perfect test scores), 10 APs, college courses, research. What is going on?
I have an out of state friend with half of these and same UW GPA who got accepted to UCR, and UCD. These days, I assume colleges need out-of-state $$$ more than ever?
that’s so weird. I applied to almost all the UCs and did not get into a single one I wish UCs were really for California students bc tuition anywhere else is just not it. I feel like they’re more about prestige now rather than providing accessible education to in-state students, but it’s fine I’m fine
I personally applied to all UCs except Merced and I got accepted to Berkeley, all other ones rejected. Still waiting for UCR. It is kinda frustrating to the point where I rather withdraw my apps
I was literally rejected from every UC and waitlisted at UCR. It’s like “oh you almost made it but not quite” veryy frustrating
at least you got into berkeley
Can we trade?
California residents are the majority at all of the UCs, and the overwhelming majority at most. OOS applicants have a more favorable acceptance rate; the pool is smaller. But only a small percentage of them choose to attend due to cost.
See this link. You can look at UC system wide, or select for campus.
I was waitlisted at two UCs (UCSC and UCR) and accepted at UCM. Never saw that would happen to me. I’m not sure if I should be happy that I did not listen to my counselor who told me that I shouldn’t apply to UCM as I would most probably get into a much better UC—and I didn’t listen and applied at the last minute,—or got to UCM, or sad that I only got to this school and no other UCs. Not even sure how good of a school it is, but certainly in my calculations it was just a safety school.
You should withdraw your UCR application if you do not plan on attending regardless as there are people on the waitlist very hopeful to get in. Big congrats on Cal! Grew up close to there myself and the culture is amazing.
first of all–congratulations! and I had the sam experience. my counselor thought I would get into Davis and/or riverside, so I didn’t apply to Merced. Merced is up and coming though!
If you are top 9% your app will get forwarded to Merced for free if you got into zero UC’s. If you are top 9% an app to Merced is a waste of $80
It might get forwarded to UCM as top 9%, but not sure if you get the major you wanted at UCM if it is a forwarded application.
That’s true. I haven’t heard of them having crowding issues but if you wanted a guaranteed slot in CS or engineering it would be worth the $80 as insurance
Thank you! That is true. That was a selfish act on my part. I will withdraw my application. Good luck to you guys!
I feel your pain. I’m on four waitlists right now, including Davis, Santa Cruz, and UCR.
