Going to be a transfer this fall 2022 and need to decide between these two by tomorrow. At UCR I got in as a business economics major, and at UCSC as a Management Economics major. I can’t decide which one to go to, so I’m going to base my decision on which is the better school. Just need to know which is the better school and I’ll go to that one.
I would look up the coursework for the majors at the two schools and see if one path is more appealing to you.
Based on faculty research, UCSC may offer the stronger economics department: Economics rankings: US Economics Departments | IDEAS/RePEc.
Define which is better? UCR has a business program - but to say one is better is not really a reality. Which is better for you? Living in the inland empire or living near the coast in a woodsy community, etc. D1 sports - or whatever UCSC has., etc.
Where will you feel best? That’s the answer.
Also, as I hear horror stories with UC, which will give you better / more affordable (if necessary) access to housing.
I’m assuming UCR but don’t know…
if there is a chance you might switch majors to business school then UCR is the better option.
They are both good schools - visit both, talk to some current students and choose the one at which you feel most comfortable.
Congrats and good luck.
