I just wondering do we need to write an essay for being wl?
i dont think so
Yah I know the cs program is solid it’s just the vibe of the school is too similar to the cc I’m at rn. Everyone is just there to get their degrees and dip that’s it. I wanted something a little more than that you know?
My son is an Econ major and strangely, tho he got into several CSU’s with Long Beach being his favorite, he I admit got denied by the 4 other UC’s he applied to but: DID get waitlisted for SD!
There IS an essay you have to write. First you click on the option that you are choosing to be waitlisted. And then the essay that you write is basically including anything else that you haven’t said about yourself in your previous essays and highlighting why specifically San Diego would be a perfect fit for you. For example the program for your major that it offers and specific classes that they have for your major. My son said that the essay is due May 15th.
We just aren’t sure what happens now since today is the day you have to commit to whichever CSU if you applied to any that you are deciding to go to. What happens then? If he commits to Long Beach… I guess he would just let them know he’s not going to attend if he got off the waitlist?
If he commits to CSULB and then gets off the UCSD waitlist, he will lose the CSULB deposit and have to pay UCSD’s enrollment deposit if he decides to attend. The process is the same for any waitlisted student.
Oh OK that’s no big deal then. I mean rather to lose $250 or whatever it is versus being somewhere that you think maybe you wouldn’t be as happy at.
Do you have any idea as to when students are notified that they got off the waitlist? It may have said in his info but he did not share that LOL.
Yes you do!
In general, waitlisted students should not expect to hear until after the Transfer SIR date of June 1, however if spots open prior to this date, then notifications will be begin.
@Gumbymom Yikes! Well but I guess the worst case scenario is which really isn’t a big deal, if you pay with the SIR for the Cal state and that you get told that you can get into any other school that you’re waitlisted for. I mean big deal you just lose the $250 deposit on the one that you already sent the SIR in to.
I wish we did. It would really help out.
Where exactly did it mention on the UCSD portal that we have an option to write an essay? Because I can’t see that option whatsoever.
Ye I don’t see that either. Maybe we just have to wait or its a major specific thing.
Scratch that. Don’t worry about it. I went into the class of 2025 waitlist forum and @Gumbymom mentioned that there was none.
OK let me apologize I misunderstood. He has until May 15 as you all do to put yourself on the waitlist. Ugh but we started talking about essays and I misunderstood and thought that’s what he had to do and it was due May 15. Nope he said the same thing: There is no mention of an essay.
Again I apologize.
Waitlisted

damn dude nasa internsip, what more do they want xo
lmao literally no idea, my code is being used in a couple flight systems rn but I guess the few Bs I got in some irrelevant GE classes must’ve put them off haha.
Do we actually have a chance of getting off the waitlist or are we just last-ditch insurance? lol
worried about this because a record amount of people applied, so I can imagine a record amount of people will enroll since classes will resume back to person…
